Coulsdon Calling! (Post #3601) 🩰💖

Hello my lovelies!

It’s Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, bringing you another day of dazzling adventures! Today I’ve traded the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the bustling streets of Coulsdon, Surrey. Yes, you read that right! This Derbyshire girl is venturing far and wide, spreading the pink tutu love wherever I go!

As usual, I took the scenic route, catching the morning train to Victoria. It was a bit of a squeeze in peak hour, but it was worth it to witness the city coming to life. Seeing all those people rushing about, fuelled by their morning coffee, always gives me a little pep in my step. You wouldn’t believe how many people were wearing pink today, though, not quite tutu-pink, but pink nonetheless! My heart did a little flutter of delight, maybe I'm onto something... it might just be my contagious enthusiasm, but surely all those pink accents couldn’t be just coincidence?

Of course, a train journey isn't complete without a glimpse of the delightful feathered friends. There was a robin perching on a branch outside the window, chirping away with such cheerful enthusiasm. Birds really are the most amazing creatures. You know, my secret dream is to choreograph a ballet based entirely on wildlife movements. Imagine! Swans taking graceful balletic dips, a graceful fox in a graceful leaps, even the wriggly movements of a snake would look elegant with the right choreography!

Finally, I arrived at Coulsdon, my mission to see the fantastic new ballet adaptation of 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' at the local theatre. The building was charming, a little old-world in a good way. And the posters... divine! You see, one of my favorite things about the ballet world is the exquisite artwork used to advertise each performance. The colours, the dramatic poses, the story-telling aspect. A true ballet poster can make a theatre lover's heart soar!

The show itself? Well, let’s just say I was mesmerized. This "Pimpernel" was so thrilling and unexpected, the dancing absolutely exquisite! And the costumes... chef's kiss. One particularly stunning dress, with a sweeping pink gown, sent shivers down my spine. There’s no denying the colour's influence, my dears. Pink truly holds its own on stage!

And if I could borrow a phrase from the theatre, "Break a leg!" It’s almost time for my own ballet class this afternoon. I’m sure the energy from the performance will be lingering in the air. Maybe I'll even wear a new pink tutu I’ve been meaning to try, a shimmering number with a hint of sparkle! Who says the magic of the theatre can’t translate to a daily ballet class? I do love to let my imagination run wild.

After all, this isn't just about the technicalities of ballet, or even the outfits. It's about freedom of expression, about telling stories without a single word, about graceful movement that takes you away from everyday life, even if it's just for a short while. There's no reason why this wonderful world of ballet shouldn't be embraced by everyone. Even those who haven't had the privilege to see a real ballet performance, or taken a ballet class. I believe we can all be our own dancers, expressing ourselves with joyful movement, just like a playful fox in a meadow, or a graceful swan in a quiet lake.

You might see me popping into a ballet class near you very soon, ready to spread a little pink tutu cheer and encourage more people to experience the beauty of this wonderful world! Until next time my loves, and don't forget, there's a pink tutu waiting for each and every one of you!

Yours in pink,

Emma 💖
