Wellington Wonders: A Green Tutu Adventure

Post #3603 | 15th May 2006 | www.pink-tutu.com

Hello my lovely Tutu-licious followers!

Today's post comes to you straight from the heart of Wellington, a city that has absolutely captured my heart. And wouldn't you know it, my current tutu of choice is a stunning shade of emerald green - a perfect match for the lush greenery of New Zealand!

Let me tell you, my journey to Wellington was an adventure in itself. I swapped my usual train ride for a more exciting experience - horseback! Now, I'm not talking about some stuffy riding school here, this was proper Kiwi-style riding, through rolling hills and across grassy plains. I swear, I felt like I was straight out of a movie - my emerald tutu fluttering behind me in the wind! It was truly magical.

Wellington itself is a vibrant and eclectic mix of charming streets, bustling markets and oh-so-chic boutiques. It's like stepping into a living, breathing fairytale! The moment I arrived, I knew I needed to see the famous Wellington Botanic Garden. Lush, green, with vibrant floral displays, it's a nature lover's paradise! And what's a nature lover's paradise without a photo op? Of course, I couldn't resist striking a pose in my green tutu - wouldn't want to be blending in, would I? I can't imagine a better place to share my love of both nature and dance!

Speaking of dance, how can I not talk about the Wellington City Ballet? They are absolutely phenomenal! I was lucky enough to catch their performance of "Giselle", and let me tell you, it was absolutely spellbinding. The choreography, the costumes, the sheer artistry - it left me breathless. Afterwards, I made a beeline for the stage door and, wouldn't you know it, the lead ballerina was just as lovely as her performance. I even managed to sneak a picture with her in my green tutu, of course! She told me she was wearing her favourite pink tutu for their upcoming production of "The Nutcracker" - clearly, she has impeccable taste!

Later in the evening, I headed to a little tucked-away gem called "The Dance Lab" for a beginner's ballet class. This was a welcome respite after a whirlwind day. It was the perfect way to stretch my limbs and get back in touch with my inner ballerina! Imagine, learning "attitude" amongst other graceful dancers with Wellington's breathtaking harbor in the backdrop. What a truly magical experience. As usual, I was the only one in a tutu. A lovely little lady in the class took a fancy to my bright green ensemble, she wanted to buy it right then and there! Well, I suppose this is what I get for going on adventures!

Now, one of the most unique things about Wellington, you just can't go anywhere without spotting the coolest little creatures - you know what I mean, penguins! They just march about all over the city and seem completely unconcerned by the crowds and chaos of a modern city. It is actually one of the most unusual sights I've seen, watching penguins wander up the hill by the harbour! I even saw a little group sunbathing by the library, just chilling out with the tourists. I've been making a serious effort to get my little Tutu family to join me on the road - I've never had such cute companions for my adventures, who wouldn't love some penguin-themed dance moves?

Now, Wellington is famed for its wind. And believe me, they aren't joking! My lovely emerald green tutu got an impressive windblown makeover, almost becoming an extra large butterfly! The only way to truly combat that kind of force of nature is, you guessed it - tutus! Think about it, it's the ultimate wind protection, not to mention fashion-forward and totally chic! Seriously, who wouldn't want a bit of tutu wind-protection for their hair on those wild Wellington days?

This city really does have it all - vibrant culture, a dazzling artistic scene, delicious food, the most charming little shops you've ever seen, gorgeous landscapes, incredible wildlife, and an absolutely wonderful energy. So, I say this, everyone - ditch the boring clothes and get yourselves a pink tutu, and come on over to Wellington, New Zealand!

Love and tutu-love,

Emma xx

P.S. I've been meaning to ask, which color is everyone's favorite for tutus? Pink still rules supreme, but green is definitely climbing the ranks, after today's adventures, you could say! So tell me, what color are you tutu-ing today? Comment below, my lovely followers!
