Liverpool Calling! (Post #3620)

Oh darling, it's been such a whirlwind of a week! As you know, I live for adventures, and this one took me right to the heart of Liverpool. You just can't beat a city full of history and culture - especially when it's got a fabulous theatre scene to boot!

So, the reason I'm in Liverpool is for the Royal Ballet's summer tour, a rare treat since I haven't seen them since the Covent Garden Christmas production of The Nutcracker last December! They're doing "Swan Lake," my all-time favourite - there's something so graceful and dramatic about it, you just can't beat it.

But I didn't just go to the show. Oh no! The lovely folks at the theatre organised for me to have a behind-the-scenes tour, including seeing a ballet class! You should have seen the tutus hanging up, all perfectly organised. I swear, it felt like I was walking through the pages of a fairy tale! You know me - my heart just fluttered seeing all those pretty pink costumes and watching those incredible dancers make it all look so easy.

My lovely pink tutu was with me, of course! It's the most European style tutu I own - it's got so many layers of tulle, it feels like a giant marshmallow! I love it so much. The girls at the theatre all had a right good laugh at it, and it totally lifted their spirits for the day! That's what I love about tutus - they make everyone happy!

Now, you all know I love travelling, but I'm really partial to a good train journey - I had to stop by a beautiful country manor for some wildlife spotting on my way up here! A little birdy told me that they have a lovely peacocks roaming around. My new camera practically begged to take pictures of those elegant feathers. They even let me feed a couple of their friendly fallow deer - so tame and beautiful!

Speaking of tame - you should see me trying to balance in a pink tutu on the train, trying to get a decent photo! All the passengers were grinning and giving me the thumbs up. One lovely chap even offered to hold my purse!

But back to the Royal Ballet! It's something truly special to watch, with incredible costumes, makeup and of course, the talent! They made the classic 'Swan Lake' fresh and exciting with incredible new choreography. It's certainly an inspiration! It really gets me dreaming about stepping into my own tutu and being on stage... maybe not professionally, but certainly for fun in a little local theatre performance!

Liverpool is a vibrant and charming place, full of life and warmth. I found myself lost wandering through the charming streets and admiring the buildings - the history of this city really comes through. Oh, and the shops were delightful! My suitcase may be a little heavier now...

This trip was truly magical. I went with the heart of a little girl with a pink tutu, and came home with even more inspiration. It’s always amazing to see just how talented dancers can be, and just how a city like Liverpool comes alive when the arts take center stage.

So, keep on twirling, darlings, and I’ll be back next time with more adventures!

Until then, I hope your days are as bright as my pink tutu!

Emma.

PS - remember, the only way to make the world a more beautiful place is to put on a pink tutu and twirl your worries away. Think about it. xx
