Aberdeen Adventures: Italian Tutu Edition! (Post #3635)

Hello my darling dears! It's Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to the stunning city of Aberdeen! As you know, I just love travelling and discovering new places, especially when I can squeeze in some ballet-related activities. And this trip certainly did not disappoint!

So let's start with the obvious: I arrived in style, naturally. My darling husband, Arthur, arranged for us to travel by train. You know, something about the rhythmic clatter of the train wheels and the passing landscapes always fills me with a sense of ballet, don’t you think? A kind of gentle choreography of motion and scenery.

Now, I know I'm a bit of a tutu fanatic, but there's something truly magical about a well-made tutu. This time, I brought along my Italian tutu, a real showstopper. It's made of the most delicate layers of tulle and silk, adorned with intricate hand-sewn pink flowers. Arthur said it looked like a delicate pink cloud! Of course, he's quite the charmer, that one. I wore it to our evening promenade through the cobblestone streets of Aberdeen, and it just sparkled under the city lights, like I was a delicate little ballerina fairy!

Ballet Bonanza

As you might know, a visit to any new city is not complete without experiencing its local ballet scene! I'm quite partial to smaller, more intimate productions, so imagine my delight when we found a charming theatre staging Giselle! Now, let’s be honest, it was a little bit different than the productions I’m used to in London's West End. For starters, the orchestra was a bit...smaller... but the passion of the dancers truly captivated me! The story itself felt so fresh and heart-warming, it reminded me of the raw, visceral power of ballet. There was this one solo during the Act Two mad scene where the dancer literally seemed to be floating on air. It sent shivers down my spine! It was quite divine, honestly. Afterwards, we even got to meet a couple of the dancers. They were so sweet and absolutely smitten with my tutu.

I'm not afraid to admit, sometimes it's the smaller details that really elevate a trip. Take, for example, the tiny independent tea shop we stumbled upon near the harbour. It was decorated with little porcelain dolls dressed in tutus! It was the most adorable thing! Arthur, however, looked rather skeptical... I think he doesn't quite grasp my "Tutu Life," ha! He said it was "rather over the top." I gave him a knowing wink. It's all about embracing that pink and fluffy side, you see.

Wildlife Wonders

One of the unexpected highlights of our Aberdeen journey was discovering the charming Seaton Park. It's such a peaceful place, a perfect green haven within the hustle and bustle of the city. I think it’s safe to say Arthur loved the squirrels and deer - much to his surprise! Arthur kept trying to capture them on film, he insisted we’d all have ‘twinning’ photos in no time at all! We giggled a lot that afternoon! The squirrels and deer were more than a little sceptical, so no, I am sorry dear readers, we had to content ourselves with a self portrait, Arthur looked extremely uncomfortable while I practiced a pirouette - even if you've got the tutu it can't do everything!

Now, we're back in Derbyshire and I must tell you, this trip has sparked a new wave of ballet inspiration! Aberdeen's energy is simply contagious!

Call to Action

So, my dearest friends, do any of you have your own tutu adventures? I would absolutely love to hear about them! What's the best tutu moment you've experienced? Don’t forget, my ultimate goal is to get everyone to don a pink tutu at least once! Go on, spread the pink fluffy joy and embrace your inner ballerina! It’s never too late!

Until next time, remember, darling, every day is a ballet!

Love and glitter,

Emma xx
