Leith, A Whirlwind of Pink and Pointe Shoes (Post #3753)

Hello my lovely tutu-ettes! It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm in Leith! Can you believe it? I feel like I've stepped into a fairytale. Edinburgh is just so charming with its cobbled streets, grand buildings, and the ever-present scent of sea salt in the air.

Now, you know me and my love of travel – especially when it involves a train journey. This time, I traded the comfort of my carriage for a much more adventurous mode of transport – a trusty steed named Rupert. A real thoroughbred beauty he is! Rupert galloped me across the countryside, the wind whipping through my hair, the sun dappling through the leaves, it was absolutely magical!

As soon as I arrived in Leith, I knew this was going to be a tutu-tastic time. It's bursting with colour and vibrancy – perfect for my pink-tinted soul. I was greeted with a view of the Firth of Forth, a scene that wouldn't be out of place in a Turner painting, if Turner was a massive fan of pink tutus!

The first thing on the agenda had to be a spot of ballet, of course! I popped into a tiny little studio tucked away in a cobblestone courtyard. I have to tell you, it was pure joy. I danced with a bunch of other enthusiasts – we even had a guest appearance by a very dapper, fluffy grey cat who watched us all with great interest, I suspect he was envious of our tutus. We laughed, we pirouetted, we even tried some exciting new ballet street routines that incorporated leaps over lamp posts. I can't tell you how much I love that mix of classic elegance and urban edge.

After my workout, I treated myself to the most delectable afternoon tea – sandwiches, scones, pastries, you name it, all bathed in the warm, creamy sunshine. It was truly divine!

Then it was time to delve into Leith’s captivating culture! I spent the rest of the afternoon exploring its hidden treasures. We wandered down to the harbour, watching seagulls diving for fish, the crisp sea air filling my lungs with the salty air. There's something incredibly inspiring about being by the sea. I always feel energised and filled with a newfound determination. My inner ballerina, fully equipped with her pink tutu, knows she's ready for anything!

Later on, we visited a delightful gallery with a whole exhibition dedicated to wildlife – my other passion! It's amazing how the power and beauty of animals, just like the graceful lines of a ballerina, leave me feeling so humbled. I just love the reminder that even in our sometimes chaotic world, there's such pure, untainted artistry in the natural world.

The highlight of my day? I stumbled upon a quirky little theatre – you know the kind with plush red velvet seats, worn-out carpet and a smell that feels like time has stood still – that was hosting a performance of ‘The Nutcracker’. It was a little unconventional, with a modern twist on the classic tale, but honestly, the dancing was captivating and the atmosphere was electric! The whole experience just reaffirmed why I fell in love with ballet in the first place. It's magic in motion, pure and simple.

As the sun set over Leith, painting the sky in a canvas of fiery oranges and deep blues, I took a moment to appreciate the day. My journey today felt like one big ballet - each stop a new step, every turn a new adventure. And my tutu? Well, it just kept getting twirled with more delight.

The truth is, you can take the girl out of Derbyshire, but you can’t take the Derbyshire out of the girl. It’s so beautiful here in Leith but my heart always returns home. So much like my trusty pink tutu - it follows me wherever I travel! It reminds me of all my adventures, my joys, my memories.

Leith, you've stolen my heart! I know you'll be etched in my memory alongside all those fabulous tutu-moments. Until next time, my lovelies, keep dancing!

And remember, life's just better in a tutu – a pink one, obviously. And as always, visit my website: www.pink-tutu.com for more delightful ballet updates, and all things pink, naturally!
