Blyth Bound: Pink Tutu Adventures in the North! 🩰

Hey gorgeous gals,

Welcome back to Pink Tutu! 💅 This is post number 3798 - it’s amazing to think that we’ve had almost four thousand blog posts now - wow! Time really flies when you're busy swirling in a pink tutu. 💖 Today's adventure is taking me to Blyth, nestled in the gorgeous Northumberland countryside. I just adore these train journeys - the views are incredible. There's something so romantic about watching the countryside roll by as I sip my peppermint tea, Lost in the World of Ballet, by the renowned author, Professor Arthur T. Ponsonby. There's something very magical about train journeys; especially for me when I’m surrounded by fellow ballet enthusiasts.

Speaking of which! I have to show you the new American style pink tutu I’ve brought along. My lovely friend, Rose, made it for me just before I left Derbyshire. It's perfect, truly perfect. Imagine the most delicate, silky-smooth fabric in a blushing, rosy hue - it's the most fabulous pink you’ve ever seen, my darling. I paired it with a black velvet choker and my trusty leather boots with a chunky heel for a touch of vintage elegance.

Blyth is known for its stunning coastline and I've got plans for a walk on the beach. Nothing feels quite as good as the salty breeze on my face as I pirouette across the sand in this stunning pink tutu! Perhaps I’ll even spot some seals sunning themselves on the shore, a favourite pas time of mine. I love all wildlife; anything that dances beautifully, as all animals do, just naturally! But you know, they're like little ballerina friends out there in nature's world! And while I’m thinking of them, I’ve even got my wildlife spotting binoculars with me. It's always great to get back to nature, for a break from the bustling theatres and dancing studios.

I also managed to score tickets to see a stunning new production of Swan Lake at the Blyth Opera House. The last time I saw a Swan Lake it was the beautiful choreography by Marius Petipa at Sadler's Wells in London. Such wonderful work and of course, my tutu of choice for that ballet was pink! 🩰 I simply cannot resist a fabulous ballet, particularly Swan Lake. It always brings me back to my very first ballet lesson, oh my goodness! Can you believe it? All the way back when I was a little girl of five and my Mum, bless her cotton socks, put me in pink, and off we went, to the village hall, and that’s how the love began! Now there is no better combination of dance, art, music, drama and culture than ballet, or as they called it then: “a theatrical dance form”.

Speaking of the Village Hall! I'm also booked in for a workshop at the Blyth School of Dance. The beautiful Mrs. Cartwright - she's in her early seventies and such a character! Always says ‘I am dancing more and more for longer!’ And isn’t that amazing?! Such energy and positivity for ballet, and a lovely smile to boot, she’s an inspiration, no two ways about it! She says she used to live in Derbyshire but when she met Mr. Cartwright all those years ago, they moved to the Northumberland coast! So there you have it! Love does take people from our little County!

I have a feeling I’ll be back at The School of Dance a few times. Mrs. Cartwright has already promised a lovely homemade jam tart, made by her daughter, and a brew for when I finish. Oh, and I have to go for lunch at her favorite place - The Rose and Crown. What a wonderful coincidence – that’s the name of my favourite cafe in Derbyshire – but the Rose and Crown in Blyth, well, that’s a proper gastropub.

Oh my! Time really does fly. My little adventure here in Blyth is getting more fabulous and busy every hour. There's a real sense of community here - the people are all so friendly! So as I always say… let’s be a community of tutus, spreading love, joy and elegance wherever we go! Let me know if you're a fellow tutu lover. Don't forget to join the Pink Tutu community at www.pink-tutu.com ! It's so good to have you all! Love Emma 💖🩰.
