Stourbridge: Tutu Travels & Fairy Dust! ✨

Hello my darlings!

Today was all about shimmering, sparkling fairy vibes. As you all know, a girl can never have too much sparkle and Stourbridge did not disappoint! The town is absolutely charming - full of little independent shops bursting with treasures and brimming with history. But that's not all, darling, because Stourbridge is also a haven for fairy fans, so it was simply the place to wear my new, enchanting tutu!

Now, you wouldn't believe the journey I took to get there. Instead of a standard train, I opted for a horse-drawn carriage, (you wouldn't believe the looks I got, honey!) with a charming driver named Arthur, a real charmer with a wink and a cheeky grin.

Arriving in Stourbridge, my tutu was swishing and twirling like a happy little pixie. My fairy costume was perfect: pink silk tulle, sparkling sequins that caught the sunshine, and tiny silver bells that jingled with every step. Feeling magical, I was ready to conquer the day.

My first stop was the enchanting Glasshouse in Stourbridge. What a treasure trove of unique art, handmade crafts and, of course, exquisite glass! Imagine, dazzling glassware in shades of pink and silver that matched my outfit perfectly! I spent ages browsing through delicate fairy lights and delicate figurines. If I wasn’t such a professional ballerina, I might have moved in right there and then!

After a delightful lunch (pink lemonade, naturally!) I went on a mission to find the best local crafts shop. After a quick Google search, I stumbled upon the amazing Stourbridge Craft Centre. The scent of beeswax candles, wool, and art supplies practically had me dancing. I just knew that with some ribbon, sequins, and glitter I could create my very own sparkly ballet slippers! I was thrilled to find a local craftswoman who creates delicate flower crowns, adding yet another dazzling piece to my collection.

You know, darling, you don't need to be a ballerina to experience the magic of a tutu. You just need a little imagination and a sprinkle of fairy dust. If you’re feeling adventurous, find a little local treasure trove or try a horse-drawn carriage ride like I did. Just try and picture it - a fairytale world with sunshine, twinkling fairy lights, and the perfect pink tutu… just the thing to make you twirl!

My heart skipped a beat, and I felt a smile spread across my face when I saw the Red House Glass Cone, this incredible industrial relic towering over the town, perfectly juxtaposing the quaint and beautiful scenery of Stourbridge. It's a real testament to the industrial history of the area and such a powerful image, don't you think? Just like my passion for dance, which intertwines beautifully with my love for all things pink and whimsical.

Later, I stopped by the Ryder’s Lane Craft Centre which, by pure serendipity, is where a ballet teacher had her studio! You’d be amazed what opportunities a girl can find on a whim, with the help of a pink tutu! She invited me in for a spontaneous session. It was a beautiful mix of ballet classics and modern movement, leaving me feeling incredibly energized and invigorated.

Even though I was "on holiday", it’s so hard to leave my dance shoes behind for long. You just can’t stay away from the feeling of movement and expression! And if I am ever in town again, I definitely recommend getting lost in the cobblestone streets and exploring the Stourbridge Town Hall – this beautiful historic landmark, so impressive with its iconic clock tower and regal facade, a beautiful tribute to its heritage!

The evening found me at a little cafe called The Olive Branch. After a day of exploring and dancing, I felt absolutely elated, I'm always up for an adventure, and this was just the start of one, a fantastic day trip I will forever remember. As I sit here writing my blog in my Derbyshire home, with memories of today’s trip still shimmering like fairy dust, I am reminded once more: Never be afraid to take the road less travelled, wear a pink tutu, and embrace a life filled with sparkles!

Sending love, and fairy dust,

Emma. x
