Leith Adventures: A Black Tutu Takes Flight

Post Number 4011

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, back with another whirlwind adventure for you lovely lot, straight from my pink-tutu-obsessed world!

Today’s blog is all about Leith, a little corner of Edinburgh, Scotland, which has been stealing my heart this week. Honestly, you guys, Edinburgh is such a beautiful city! From the grand architecture to the charming cobbled streets, it just oozes character, like a fairytale waiting to unfold.

But first, let’s talk about tutus! Because no Emma-blog-post-in-a-new-city is complete without a little tulle talk. Now, as much as I love my trusty pink tutus (more on that later, you just know it's coming!), there's something so dramatically stylish about a black one, don’t you think? Especially when it’s in this particular vintage one that I snagged in a little antique shop tucked away in a tiny side street in Edinburgh – you just have to look out for those little gems! This one has the most fabulous black netting that rustles like whispers as I pirouette. Honestly, I swear it dances all on its own!

Anyway, enough of my tutus for now! We were in Leith, specifically exploring the bustling Royal Docks, with the famous Forth Rail Bridge looming large in the background – absolutely breathtaking, I just had to take a million pictures! It really feels like stepping back in time, but with a modern twist, as if a slice of the Victorian era was transported to the present, complete with trendy cafes and boutiques, of course!

And let’s not forget the wildlife! It felt like I was back in my beloved Derbyshire, as there was so much sea life about, even seagulls! One of them even tried to snag a little bit of my ice cream as I was savouring it by the water! But my trusty handbag and my super-fast reflexes saved the day, ha! I'm not sure if he was eyeing up the black tulle or the ice cream though... it’s all a mystery!

The rest of the day was a whirlwind of vintage finds and yummy cakes in quaint little tea shops. One shop even had a little shop cat, a ginger fluffball named Marmalade, who was very interested in my black tutu. I mean, what could a fluffy ginger cat possibly want with a black tutu? The mystery goes on!

You know, this entire trip has just reminded me of the magic of ballet. It's more than just twirling around and perfecting pirouettes – it’s about a certain feeling, a spark in the eyes, an energy that explodes with every jump and leap. And, honestly, the beauty of the architecture in Edinburgh just seemed to echo the grace and fluidity of my own ballet movements, in a strange, poetic kind of way!

And then there was the highlight of the whole day – a performance at the Edinburgh Theatre, featuring an awe-inspiring performance by a group of talented dancers. They told stories with their bodies, whispered emotions with each movement. It reminded me of the joy I get from sharing my own stories with all of you, you amazing, amazing people, through my blog!

Oh, speaking of sharing, darling, why don’t we take a little detour and dive into my absolute favourite topic? Pink! And even better, pink tutus! (And yes, you already know it's coming!) You just wouldn’t believe the treasures I stumbled across in this lovely little shop in Leith, filled with all the pink-iest of pink-tutus imaginable! Think tulle in every shade of bubblegum, cotton candy, and rose quartz. I just had to snap up a couple for myself and, well, for you, of course! I'll be sharing pictures of them in a later post!

Leith truly blew me away, I can tell you! There's a genuine charm, a magical atmosphere that leaves you feeling lighter, brighter, more whimsical… like you’ve just spent an hour dancing with a bunch of twirling ballerinas.

And before I sign off for the day, darling, remember what I'm all about: Pink tutus for everyone! It’s my mission to get you twirling around, dancing and spreading the joy and beauty of ballet across the world! Go on, step outside your comfort zone! Join a ballet class! Wear a pink tutu! Take a ride on a train! And if you see a pink tutu somewhere out there, think of me, waving back!

That's all for today, my darlings. Until tomorrow! Keep shining and stay fabulous!

Lots of love and twirls, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
