Welling, Kent - Post 4039

Oh, darlings, I'm just positively bubbling over with excitement today! This week has been utterly fantastic and full of all things pink and twirly! Iā€™ve been exploring Kent, my favourite part of England (besides Derbyshire of course!).

It all started with a beautiful train journey to Welling. Now, donā€™t judge me, darling! Itā€™s not about where you are, but how you get there! The sunshine was warm, and I was feeling incredibly glamorous in my little pink summer dress, accessorized, of course, with my new lilac tutu and a straw hat.

As the train rattled along, I felt that familiar, fizzy sense of excitement, the kind only travelling by train can provide. The world, through the windows, was whizzing by in a blur of fields and trees and, well, you know me ā€“ it made me feel absolutely bursting to unleash my inner ballerina. So, with my new portable ballerina barre in tow, I slipped off my sandals, climbed into the little space between carriages and took myself on a mini tour de force. Yes, a full pas de bourrĆ©e with a grand jetĆ©, all within the confines of the carriage! Everyone looked so startled!

The real journey was about so much more than just arriving at my destination, however. Welling, as it turns out, was brimming with inspiration. Imagine my delight when I discovered, tucked away on a quaint side street, a little independent bookshop, called ā€˜The Ballet Boutiqueā€™! Inside, every page was a feast for the eyes, filled with beautifully illustrated childrenā€™s books, each with their own captivating tale of little ballerinas with grand dreams. My inner child absolutely squealed! Of course, I ended up leaving with not one, but five lovely tomes, and felt just like a little girl again, clutching my treasured purchases close to my chest.

My day continued in a most whimsical fashion when I discovered a tiny little coffee shop called ā€œPink Petal Cafe.ā€ Everything there was the colour of my favourite flower - pale pink walls, pale pink napkins, even their adorable little cakes were tinted a beautiful rosy shade! They were so decadent ā€“ I felt my ballet muscles tightening up just looking at them, though! Thankfully, I'd had a decent, ballet-appropriate meal beforehand - just some nice pink chicken and pea salad - so I indulged in a delicate pink peppermint tea. And a single, petite pink cake, of course. I just couldnā€™t resist.

The cafe owner was charming - an old, eccentric chap who seemed genuinely excited to meet someone so enthusiastic about pink, ballet, and travel. He even told me about a local legend - a long ago tale of a young ballerina, who danced so beautifully, her tutu would glitter in the moonlight and the people of Welling, gathered around, would hold their breath in awe. Oh, my! I loved that little tale!

Later, I visited Wellingā€™s historical park, full of ancient trees and little wild deer! It was absolutely magical, especially in the dusky twilight, with the dappled shadows falling upon the grassy grounds. The wildness, the peaceful beauty - it made my heart flutter and I thought, wouldn't this be a perfect spot for a ballet under the stars? It was a truly beautiful ending to my day.

So, darlings, that's my Welling tale ā€“ another day, another new inspiration. I canā€™t wait for my next trip and to explore more of the incredible, colourful world of ballet, where imagination and beauty bloom with each twirl. And to think, it all began with a pink tutu and a journey on a trainā€¦ I often tell people: the most extraordinary adventures can be just around the corner. If only theyā€™d embrace the magic and go out and seek them!

And thatā€™s exactly what Iā€™m planning to do. Don't forget, darlings, you can find all my adventures on www.pink-tutu.com. Now, off to bed to dream of tutus and trains and twirls in moonlit glades. Until next time,

Emma. xxx
