Herne Bay: Pink Tutus on the Beach

Oh darling, I’ve just got back from the most gloriously girly trip to Herne Bay! And yes, you guessed it – pink tutu action all the way.

It was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment decision. I was feeling like I needed a dose of seaside sunshine and a change from my usual London routine. My friend, Sarah (she’s the one who convinced me to take up horseback riding – and lets be honest, who wouldn’t give it a go after seeing how amazing a tutu looks on a horse?), had been talking about a visit to Herne Bay for ages, saying it was a real hidden gem. Well, hidden gem or not, I couldn't resist the lure of the sea, sand and, of course, a perfectly good excuse to rock a brand new tutu.

The journey, as always, was part of the adventure. A train ride, the sound of the rhythmic clackety-clack of the wheels on the track, the breeze through my hair… pure magic. Especially when you’ve got a brand new sparkly tutu packed in your bag, ready for the perfect seaside photoshoot.

When I arrived, the beach was absolutely buzzing! It was packed with families enjoying the sunshine and a group of children were actually doing a little impromptu dance routine – I had to smile. You know what they say, "every day's a ballet" (or at least it should be!).

After a quick pit stop for a massive, deliciously creamy ice-cream (don't even get me started on the waffle cones here! ), it was time to strut my stuff. I found a little spot with a breathtaking view of the coast, and, taking a deep breath, spun around in my pink tutu. The wind played with the tulle, and the waves crashed softly on the shore, creating the perfect backdrop.

Oh darling, the photoshoot was heavenly! You see, there's just something magical about combining ballet with nature, with the wind, the sky, and the sea…it's just incredibly inspiring. I have a whole series of pics, with me holding a gorgeous seashell in my hands, then gracefully pirouette, just catching the sunshine…it's definitely a scene for a dream.

After my photo-shoot, I took a wander down the beach, stopping to watch the local wildlife. We have some wonderful seaside birds back in Derbyshire, but I'd never seen a seagull like the ones here, completely white! It looked like they'd been powdered with magic. And let's not forget about those glorious seals! They looked so regal, lazing on the rocks in the sunshine – I wish I'd had my ballerina shoes on, as I'd have loved to join them for a little afternoon stretch session!

As evening descended, the sea turned a magical shade of orange. It was just what I needed. After a delicious meal of freshly caught fish, we sat on the beach, gazing at the stars. It was like something out of a ballet storybook.

You know, darling, I can see why Sarah loved this place. There’s something special about it. Herne Bay is the perfect mix of seaside fun and calm, of laughter and peace. It really reminds you how easy it is to be happy.

I headed back to Derbyshire, refreshed and revitalised. But, of course, I’m already dreaming of my next adventure… it’s so inspiring to explore new places and find those little pockets of pink-tutu joy everywhere. Perhaps it’s time for a trip to the seaside again soon! And what’s better than to encourage all of you to don your pink tutus, find your own adventure and share it on the pink-tutu.com website!

After all, it's not about just dancing, it's about living life to the fullest, twirling through it all, with a pink tutu by your side. You know that, don’t you, darlings?

Keep twirling,

Emma xx
