Arnold Adventures: Tutu Time in the Heart of Nottinghamshire

Hello darlings! Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to the heart of Nottinghamshire – a charming little town called Arnold, to be precise. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get here, with its beautiful architecture, quaint shops, and that lovely, laid-back, English countryside feel. I just knew it would be the perfect backdrop for a tutu adventure, don’t you agree?

Let’s be honest, I have a bit of a reputation for travelling in style. My preferred mode of transport is a vintage carriage or a train – you know, with those comfy seats, little tables for your tea, and the gentle rattle as it goes down the line. Makes for a fab opportunity to break out a fabulous tutu and maybe even sketch some ideas for new ones, though I did have to hide it for this particular trip – couldn't bring a train to a halt, could I?

Thankfully, getting to Arnold from Derbyshire was easy peasy – it was just a lovely jaunt through the countryside by train. Such stunning scenery – rolling green hills, sheep, charming villages with half-timbered houses and colourful flowers.

I'm all about those sweet details, darlings! Every corner I turned seemed to have some sort of delightful surprise - a vintage china tea shop with a stunning array of pastel-coloured teacups (naturally I snagged one!) or a bakery bursting with fragrant fresh bread (I confess to over indulging in a croissant and a loaf of focaccia!). They even had a cute little gift shop with the most beautiful silk scarves adorned with delicate, hand-painted butterflies – they practically flew into my shopping bag!

Now, on to the most exciting part of my Arnold adventures! I headed to a fabulous ballet studio tucked away in the heart of town, tucked between a charming bookstore and a florist with rows and rows of colourful flowers - just delightful. I mean, the timing was impeccable - it just had to be fate! Turns out the studio was hosting a special "Ballet in the Park" event!

I couldn’t wait to grab my signature tutu - a sleek and sophisticated one this time, all black with a shimmering pink lining - and hop in for some fabulous choreography with a group of equally fabulous ladies. We had the time of our lives swirling and twirling under the summer sky - pure ballet bliss! And can I just say, this little town has got serious style! We got a good old-fashioned English cheer from passers-by who stopped to admire our twirling and a hearty "bravo!" from a group of kids playing nearby. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like the feel of that summer sun on your face as you fly across a grassy lawn. It makes my heart soar, I tell you!

It wouldn’t be a true Emma adventure without a little taste of local culture, right? The "Arnold Theatre" (talk about a catchy name!) was holding a special performance of "The Nutcracker" by a local troupe – an absolute gem of a production, you all! You wouldn't believe the beautiful costumes and stunning choreography - I was completely mesmerised! It reminded me of why I fell in love with ballet in the first place, and that passion reignited my own desire to dance - who needs a fancy studio when you’ve got the entire countryside to dance across?

So, Arnold has made my heart soar - what with its quirky little shops, friendly locals, and infectious joy. They've definitely earned a permanent spot on my list of "must-visit" places. If you're ever in Nottinghamshire, darling, do make sure you swing by Arnold. And hey, bring a pink tutu, because as I always say - a touch of sparkle makes everything brighter.

Until next time, stay fabulous!

xx

Emma
