Falkirk Fancy: A Tutu-tiful Train Journey

Post Number 4065

Hello my lovely Tutu-Twirlers!

Today's post is bursting with sunshine and sass, all thanks to a trip to Falkirk, Scotland, which is just a little bit further afield than usual for me! Don't worry though, my faithful pink tutu went on the adventure too! I love venturing beyond the Derbyshire Dales - especially when it involves trains! There's something utterly romantic about hurtling through the countryside, with my head stuck in a book and my pink-tutu-clad feet happily dangling!

My reason for travelling to this little corner of Scotland? A show, of course! A brand new piece by the esteemed Scottish Ballet, featuring some of the most awe-inspiring choreography I've seen. They brought together elements of ballet, traditional Highland dance, and even a touch of street style - truly a celebration of different dance forms. I practically squealed with delight at the opening scene! You just wait until you see the photographs I snapped - I'll be posting them soon, trust me!

Now, you might be thinking "Falkirk? What on earth is there to do there?". Oh darling, Falkirk is far more enchanting than you'd imagine! A historical haven tucked away between the rolling hills. We strolled through the Kelpies sculpture trail, and my dear, those horses were simply glorious. They truly embody the spirit of the Highland region. Their steel bodies gleamed in the sun, and their mighty forms towered above us! Just imagine a graceful ballerina twirling in front of such magnificent beasts... The perfect blend of classic and modern.

I couldn't leave Falkirk without a quick peek into The Falkirk Wheel. Such a clever bit of engineering, you wouldn't believe it until you see it with your own eyes! It's a massive, rotating structure that carries boats between two canals - the ultimate display of man and machine working together to navigate the waters. It certainly captured my imagination! It almost felt like a dance, this mechanical ballet of the waterways!

My weekend adventures wouldn't have been complete without some indulgent Scottish treats, Now, I don't mean haggis, darlings! (Although, for those daring souls, go for it!) No, I'm talking about decadent fudge, hot chocolate with mountains of whipped cream, and shortbread with a drizzle of honey. It's true - I can justify it because my trip involved SO much dancing, I was in need of fuel for all those pirouettes and grand jetรฉs!

One thing I always notice about Scotland, is their passion for wildlife. And Falkirk is no exception. While strolling around the beautiful Kelpies trail, we spotted a little blue tit, perched on a branch, flitting and chirping away. Such a charming little creature. It truly was the perfect little note of colour against the landscape. I felt my creative spirit soar, thinking of how to incorporate that kind of effortless elegance into my own dance steps!

Falkirk really is a special place, filled with a quirky charm and rich heritage. It's like stepping into a time capsule with a dash of modern artistry. And of course, it's a place that encourages every little bit of adventure and imagination! If you're planning your next little escape, I urge you to consider a trip to Falkirk! I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be love at first sight for you, too.

Just remember to pack a tutu, darlings. And don't be afraid to let your own spirit take flight.

Until tomorrow,

Emma xx
