Birmingham Calling: Pink Tutu Adventures in the Midlands

Hey lovelies!

It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away on another pink-tutu-filled adventure! This time, my trusty travel companion, the train, whisked me off to the heart of the Midlands - Birmingham! It was such a lovely, autumnal day, and the colours of the leaves outside the window seemed to perfectly match my bright pink tutu, a vintage beauty that I snagged at a fabulous charity shop.

Before we dive into the Birmingham highlights, let me tell you about my outfit. As always, a pink tutu was a must! But for this trip, I paired it with a delicate floral print blouse and some vintage black heeled boots - a touch of Victorian whimsy and a whole lot of comfort. I love how my outfits are a unique blend of girly, glamorous, and a little bit cheeky!

Now, back to Birmingham. My mission? To spread the love of dance! It all started at the beautiful Birmingham Hippodrome, which had an amazing schedule of dance shows, and you just know I was itching to see them!

Firstly, a ballet performance by the Birmingham Royal Ballet! The performance of Swan Lake was simply breath-taking - it was a masterpiece! From the sheer beauty of the choreography, to the effortless skill of the dancers, the emotions ran high. I just knew I had to visit their training academy and talk to some budding ballerinas! I even tried out a class โ€“ phew, it was intense, but my aching muscles tell me I need to be getting back in the studio, no excuses.

After the class, my excitement for all things ballet didnโ€™t stop. It was time to immerse myself in the theatre culture of Birmingham! My favourite discovery? A small local production of Romeo & Juliet. Watching it on the intimate stage was an incredible experience - so much passion and raw talent on display! Afterwards, I snagged a cheeky cocktail at a local speakeasy, hidden in a vintage bookshop - just a small but delightful quirk that made the day even better.

To get a taste of the city's pulse, I had to wander its vibrant streets! I loved the colourful street art, the delicious smells of curry wafting from the restaurants, and the friendly chat from the locals. Birmingham felt energetic, diverse, and had an infectious optimism that was simply contagious!

The highlight, however? A visit to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. I must confess, I was a little nervous! Imagine, me, Emma the ballerina, navigating the wilds, but oh, my, was I surprised! There were all sorts of exotic flowers, ancient trees, and even a vibrant tropical house bursting with colour and life. I spent an entire afternoon basking in the beauty of the garden, even getting up close and personal with some cheeky squirrels! The peace of nature was a fantastic way to end the day.

On my journey back to Derbyshire, I sat by the train window, relishing the journey and reflecting on all that I saw and experienced. Birmingham was truly a charming, welcoming, and utterly delightful city, and I left feeling a little more inspired, a little more passionate about dance, and absolutely certain that I will be returning soon!

And for you, lovelies, my challenge to you is this: take a moment this week, try a dance class! It doesn't have to be a ballet class, any kind will do - even just twirling around in your living room, wearing your best pink tutu, is a fantastic start! Let's spread the joy of movement together, and remind everyone that the power of dance truly knows no bounds!

Until next time,

Emma xx
