Northampton: A Tutu Adventure! 🩰

Hello my lovelies! Emma here, ready to whisk you away to another fabulous day in the life of your favourite tutu-loving ballerina! πŸ˜‰

Today, I’m on the train to Northampton. I absolutely adore travelling by train - the clickety-clack of the wheels, the ever-changing scenery rushing by, and the sheer comfort of a first-class carriage (when I can afford it, of course!) are pure joy. This journey was even more special because I had my lucky pink tutu on!

Oh, my darlings, it's simply divine. Imagine a ballet tutu, but the tulle is the softest shade of rose, almost like the petals of a perfect pink rose. I twirled a little bit in the carriage ( discreetly, of course!), and it felt like I was floating on air.

Speaking of floating, Northampton was truly a fairytale setting for a tutu-clad ballet enthusiast like myself!

Northampton: A ballet lover’s paradise

This charming little town was absolutely overflowing with things to see and do. There's a delightful museum dedicated to the history of the shoe, which, in itself, was worth a whole blog post (more on that later!). But today, my main reason for heading here was to witness the magic of the Northampton Ballet.

The show itself was phenomenal. We were treated to a breathtaking performance of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake". I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it - you have to go and experience it for yourselves!

But I must share some of my favourite moments: The sheer artistry of the lead ballerina's pirouettes, the precision of the corps de ballet during the "Black Swan" scene - my heart skipped a beat! Then, the beautiful music, the set design, and those gorgeous, flowing costumes... It was simply unforgettable.

The stage was set perfectly for a tutu-wearing extravaganza. I even caught myself twirling a little in my seat, completely swept away by the elegance and grace. Honestly, my Tutu just begged to be a part of the performance!

Afternoon Tea at a Pastel Perfection

No trip to a quaint town is complete without a delectable afternoon tea, and this afternoon, I had the most splendid time in the prettiest tea room imaginable! Pink walls, pastel floral accents, and an endless array of delicate cakes, pastries and sandwiches. It felt like I'd stepped into a Marie Antoinette's dream.

I simply had to indulge, my inner ballerina girl could resist! The raspberry macarons were divine, as were the miniature scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Everything was so utterly scrumptious - even the teapot was a pastel blue delight!

The Charm of the Cotswolds

To continue our fairytale adventures, after tea, we embarked on a scenic journey into the heart of the Cotswolds. I chose to travel by horse and carriage!

Yes, my darlings, I finally did it - a fairytale ride in a horse-drawn carriage. The clip-clop of the horses' hooves and the gentle swaying of the carriage created the most serene and picturesque experience. We were surrounded by lush green fields, rolling hills and quaint stone cottages – a picture of English countryside beauty. I was simply giddy with happiness!

I couldn't resist wearing my pink tutu during this romantic journey, it added an extra touch of charm to our lovely carriage ride. As I sat nestled in the cushions of the carriage, I couldn't help but twirl a little as the countryside unfolded before me, with all its gentle, idyllic charm. It felt as if the horses were taking me through an actual storybook adventure!

Wild Beauty

Our journey took us to a breathtaking spot - a secret meadow where I finally got to meet the wild horses! It was pure magic. They were sleek and powerful, but their gentle eyes held a touch of wild beauty that captivated my heart. I just stood there for a while, lost in the majesty of these magnificent creatures.

One young horse, with a beautiful dappled coat, came up to me for a sniff. It was as if it were curious about the unusual visitor in the pink tutu. I simply couldn't resist sharing a tiny piece of my strawberry macaron with this beautiful horse - after all, a little sugar for a wild creature is good for the soul! It was a memorable moment, connecting with nature at its most pristine and wild.

A Perfect Day for Ballet & Dreams

This day in Northampton has been truly unforgettable, and I'm leaving feeling utterly inspired and blissfully happy.

If you're looking for a town with heart, charm and a dash of magic - Northampton is calling your name!

Don't forget to embrace your inner ballerina - a little twirl here and there never hurt anyone, and a pink tutu, my dear, can take you places beyond your wildest dreams!

Until next time,

Your devoted Emma

xx
