Croydon Calling! Pink Tutu Travels #4152

Hello my gorgeous ballet bunnies! Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, reporting live from the vibrant streets of Croydon. This little Derbyshire girl has been on the move again, and this time, I’ve hopped on the train – yes, my friends, by train! – to a city I’ve always wanted to explore.

You see, Croydon isn’t just a place for commuters; it has a real charm of its own. I’m so excited to share my pink tutu adventures with you, as I’m discovering that there’s a hidden world of beauty and creativity waiting to be uncovered in this vibrant town.

And speaking of vibrancy, how’s my outfit? A splash of bright pink tulle with my trusty feather boa? I'm feeling incredibly 'Croydon Chic' – even the pigeon who stared at me like I’d stolen its cheese seems to agree!

I knew I couldn’t leave Croydon without a visit to the beautiful Fairfield Halls. As soon as I stepped inside, I felt that magic. I just had to dance. So, I found myself swept into the elegance of a stunning classical ballet performance – ‘Swan Lake,’ no less. The delicate grace of the dancers, the swirling tutus, and the majestic music... my heart just soared. I don’t know about you, but I left feeling completely enchanted.

It’s funny how sometimes, we get so focused on the big, dazzling performances that we forget about the beautiful little things. That's why, later that afternoon, I discovered something truly special – the Croydon Dance Centre. This studio pulsates with a contagious energy; I could feel the joy radiating through the walls. And guess what? The lovely people there were delighted to let me take a drop-in ballet class!

Now, I’m not gonna lie, my pliés were a little rusty, but I can honestly say it felt like coming home. It’s incredible to be surrounded by people who share the love of ballet – a feeling I know you all know well! It’s all about that shared passion for the art form, right?

Even better? I spotted a tiny girl, maybe seven years old, who had never tried ballet before. And guess what? She was completely in her element! It just shows that ballet is for everyone – no matter your age, experience, or (of course) fashion choices. You want to wear pink tutus while you dance? Rock it!

After a whirlwind day, it was time for some relaxation and reflection. So I found a cosy café nestled on a charming street lined with pretty little shops and spent the evening enjoying a hot cup of tea and watching the world go by. (By the way, I spotted some gorgeous vintage brooches for sale! Maybe a future blog post for you on all the lovely finds I’ve had.)

The night in Croydon didn’t disappoint either. I stumbled across a fantastic performance at the Jacksons Lane, an independent theatre, featuring some talented street dance acts. Talk about an adrenaline rush! Their moves were lightning-fast, the energy was incredible, and it made me wish I could pop and lock as effortlessly as they do! It really got me thinking – we all have different styles and expressions, but we can all connect through movement, dance, and passion.

So, my fellow tutu enthusiasts, are you ready for your own Croydon adventure? Don’t let the name fool you. This town, just a stone’s throw from London, is a little haven of art, culture, and all things fabulous! Come explore with your pink tutu and let’s dance our way into a new adventure.

Until next time, keep spreading the love of pink tutus and dancing with all your hearts. You’re all amazing!

Stay fabulous,

Emma xoxo
