Oxford: A Feather Tutu Dream! 🩰💖

Hello, darlings! Emma here, signing in from sunny (well, slightly cloudy, but who's counting?) Oxford! Today's adventure was completely inspired by the most amazing feather tutu I spotted in a vintage shop on my way to the station. Oh my word, it was just…divine. Picture a fluffy cloud of pink and silver feathers, so light it could float away, and with enough sparkle to make a disco ball jealous! Naturally, I had to snag it. This post marks a grand total of 4158 entries here on pink-tutu.com, and each day feels like a new dance – and believe me, my dear readers, this tutu is the leading lady!

My morning began with a proper English breakfast – the kind with eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding, fried tomato, mushrooms, beans, and a big pot of tea – at the little café next to my hotel. (Don’t worry, I didn’t eat the whole lot!) Then it was off to the station for a magical journey on the train. Honestly, I love travelling by train. The countryside flashes by in a blur of green fields and quaint villages, and there's always something interesting to see: a fluffy sheep family grazing in a meadow, or a train-spotter in his finest red cap.

Reaching Oxford, a city of cobblestone streets and historic architecture, felt like stepping into a fairytale. The sun was peeking through the clouds, illuminating the iconic spires and gables of Oxford University. This place just radiates culture and learning, and even the air seems to whisper tales of centuries past!

My afternoon was dedicated to ballet, of course! Oxford has a fantastic ballet studio, and I couldn’t resist a class. The space was flooded with sunshine, a delightful warmth to balance the invigorating stretch. I'm always mesmerized by the strength and grace of ballerinas, how they can effortlessly float across the stage, defy gravity with a graceful leap. It’s something I try to capture in my own movements, bringing that effortless grace to life through my passion for dance and a touch of the dramatic!

And speaking of dramatic, the highlight of my day was, hands down, a stunning performance of "Swan Lake" at the Oxford Playhouse. I couldn't take my eyes off the stage – it was magical. The choreography was exquisite, the costumes a dream (I’m still picturing that tulle swan skirt!), and the entire performance was just utterly captivating. Even the music was intoxicating.

Afterwards, I strolled around Oxford's lovely streets, lost in the enchanting atmosphere. I picked up a charmingly quaint vintage teapot and a few beautifully hand-painted floral cups from a quirky little shop – all of course in shades of pink and lavender, what else?! Later, I enjoyed a delicious dinner of creamy mushroom risotto (and a little glass of sparkling wine!) overlooking the glistening River Thames. Watching the sun dip low over the city while sipping my drink and savouring the peaceful atmosphere felt incredibly romantic.

As I sit here in my hotel room, the moon shining in through the window and my feather tutu draped over the chair, I can't help but smile. It's been a truly magical day, a day of captivating ballet, stunning sights, and a healthy dose of girly indulgence. Life really is a dance, and Oxford just adds an extra sparkle!

Now, dear readers, before I slip into my silk pyjamas and drift off to sleep, tell me about your latest ballet adventures. Are you in a pink tutu yet? Let’s dance our way through life, with a dash of magic, a sprinkle of glitz, and always, always, a big, pink heart!

Love and feathers, Emma xx
