Cambridge Calling!

Oh my darlings, I am so excited to be in Cambridge! The train journey was divine, all swishing scenery and that lovely fresh autumn air whipping through the carriage. I even spotted a herd of deer galloping across a field - it was almost as exciting as spotting my very first prima ballerina as a child. (Okay, maybe not quite as exciting, but still, wildlife watching never gets old, especially when you're whizzing past it on a train!)

You all know I love a good tutu, but let me tell you, it's so much more fun wearing one when you're travelling! The swishing of the tulle, the vibrant colour - pink, of course - it just makes the journey so much more... well, fabulous. My trusty old travel tutu is a vintage German one that I found at a charity shop. It's the most perfect shade of blush pink with a little embroidered heart detail on the bodice - totally adorable!

Now, Cambridge is all about that charming old-world architecture and history. I mean, who wouldn't want to walk through the university grounds, maybe even steal a quick glimpse inside King's College Chapel (the inside, I mean, not the actual Chapel, I'd never be so bold!). The cobblestone streets are perfect for twirling, the autumn leaves are like a tapestry of auburn and gold underfoot, and I can just feel the history in the air!

But don't think for a second I'm letting the ballet take a back seat while I'm in Cambridge! Tonight I'm attending a performance by the Royal Ballet at the Cambridge Arts Theatre. Apparently, it's a new, modern take on Swan Lake which I know is going to be breathtaking. I might even try to sneak a peek backstage afterwards - you know me, I love a bit of backstage gossip! It’s almost as much fun as catching up on ballet chat over tea with the girls at my local ballet studio in Derby.

Oh, speaking of the girls, did I tell you about my amazing new dance teacher? He’s a bit older than the other teachers at the studio but absolutely captivating, with the most charismatic energy and such amazing dance moves! He’s so supportive, which really makes me feel like I can push my boundaries, which you know is so important to any dancer. Even with my, let's say enthusiastic, approach to dance (because honestly, can you really be too enthusiastic about pirouettes?), he just smiles and encourages me to take flight! It’s all about confidence, and honestly, wearing my tutu definitely gives me a boost - that’s a real magic trick in its own right, don't you think?

Of course, a trip to Cambridge wouldn't be complete without some shopping. I am determined to find the most perfect pair of pink ballet shoes to wear for the Swan Lake performance (let’s be honest, I’m dreaming of sparkly pink ballet shoes!). I just love the way ballet shoes look. They're like miniature works of art and each one has its own personality, don’t you think?

It's moments like these that really make me feel like I'm living my absolute best life! Travelling, ballet, pink tutus... What more could a girl ask for? And while I am indulging my own dreams, I’m inspired to inspire others. Remember, life’s too short for beige - why not wear your own pink tutu? Even if it's just to walk around your own home or for an afternoon out, I guarantee it will make you feel fantastic! And don't forget, it's never too late to start ballet, whatever your age.

Well, darling, I'm off to indulge in a delicious afternoon tea at a charming tea shop. I might even have to try one of those famous Cambridge buns! They say it’s all about the fresh cream. So keep an eye on this space, darlings, for all the juicy gossip about my Cambridge adventures - I'll keep you updated with more tutu-tastic fashion inspiration and fabulous dance finds along the way!

Until next time,

Emma xxx
