It’s Emma here, your favourite Derbyshire ballerina and purveyor of all things pink and tutu-tastic! 🌺🌸🩰 Today I’m buzzing with excitement because I’m finally sharing my adventure from last week: a whirlwind trip to the beautiful coastal town of Ramsgate!
Remember that dreamy, powder pink tulle tutu I told you about last week? Well, she made the journey with me, and boy, did she steal the show! Honestly, Ramsgate was just the perfect backdrop for a ballet-themed escapade, so grab a cuppa, settle in, and let’s dive in!
Train Travel Dreams
Now, you know how much I adore train travel. The rhythmic clackety-clack of the tracks, the beautiful landscapes flitting by, the endless opportunity to people-watch - pure joy! This trip was no exception, and I felt the excitement building the moment I boarded.
My fellow passengers seemed to sense my anticipation for a seaside escape, because a friendly chap in the carriage opposite offered me a cuppa. That, along with the soothing clink of the carriage, put me right in a ballet mood, ready for a fabulous adventure!
Ramsgate – A Picturesque Ballet Stage
Arriving in Ramsgate was like stepping into a charming stage production! Imagine a quaint harbour lined with colourful fishermen’s cottages, a charming promenade dotted with tea rooms, and the wide expanse of the blue sea sparkling in the sun… Pure magic!
My first port of call, as always, was to hunt down the best local tea room. This one, perched overlooking the harbour, offered the most incredible homemade cakes and a selection of loose leaf teas so vast I had to close my eyes and point at the menu. Perfect!
I perched by the window, my tutu delicately resting on my chair like a graceful dancer, soaking in the scene and dreaming of pirouettes by the water’s edge.
The Grand Parade: A Tutu Triumph!
Next up was a stroll along the iconic Ramsgate promenade, where I proudly showcased my pink tulle wonder to the world! The sunlight catching the layers of tulle and catching the sea breeze, making the skirt swirl and flow like a ballerina's graceful leaps – I felt like a true ballet goddess.
Honestly, I swear everyone stopped to admire the tutu – from giggling children pointing and waving to pensioners smiling and clapping, it felt like everyone embraced my pink tutu power! One lady even complimented me, saying "That's a right pretty frock, dear. Like a beautiful, ballet dancing mermaid!” I must say, that compliment made my heart sing!
Sunset Symphony:
As evening approached, the sky above Ramsgate transformed into a vibrant spectacle of crimson and gold. I knew exactly what I had to do - find the most picturesque spot, stand on tip-toe, twirl, and let the sunset illuminate my tulle as if I were dancing under a spotlight!
It was the most magical feeling. And you know what? It actually inspired me to create a brand new ballet sequence in my head – I envision a powerful, flowing, yet whimsical ballet choreographed against a sunset backdrop – just breathtaking!
The End of My Ramsgate Romp
Of course, every good trip has to end. Leaving Ramsgate with my head filled with new memories and ideas felt bittersweet. The sound of the train tracks resonated a lilting melody in my heart as I boarded, carrying with me a treasure trove of inspiration.
My journey to Ramsgate wasn’t just about exploring a new town - it was about experiencing the pure joy of spreading the magic of ballet and encouraging everyone to embrace their own inner dancer. And believe me, with my new sunset ballet inspired by the breathtaking scenery, there's so much to share with you lovely lot!
