Wood Green, Green Tutu - Post #4362

Hello my gorgeous readers!

It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-loving ballerina, back with another blog post from my exciting travels around the world, seeking out fabulous ballet performances and spreading the gospel of pink tutus (and the joy of ballet) everywhere I go!

Today, my little pink-hued heart landed in the charming town of Wood Green, a haven of independent shops and a truly wonderful buzz. But hold on to your hats (and maybe even your hair bows), my darlings, because this blog is not just about beautiful places; today's focus is about a green tutu. Now, before your imaginations go wild picturing me in something utterly unsuitable for a professional ballerina (pink or otherwise), let me explain...

This green tutu adventure began, as so many wonderful stories do, with a trip on the train. You know I love a train journey, don't you? It's the perfect place for catching up on my blog, enjoying a cup of tea, and indulging in a little people-watching (who doesn't love seeing those fabulous hats and outfits some people pull out on the morning commute? whispers especially when it involves feathers).

Anyways, on my way to Wood Green (the little town not the tube stop, darlings, there’s an important difference in ballet, isn’t there?), I noticed the most divine green dress on a woman just a couple of carriages away. It was just the right shade of emerald green, like a perfectly formed dewdrop nestled in a summer rose. But what really took my breath away, what made my ballet-loving heart beat a little faster, was how it reminded me of my favourite pair of pointe shoes (also green). Suddenly, I was transported back to my days of taking ballet at the Royal Ballet School in Derby, where green shoes and white tutus were the norm (of course!).

For a while, I was lost in a reverie of childhood memories; hearing my Dad humming to me as he tied my shoelaces (pink shoelaces, naturally, because no ballerina worth her salt wears anything but pink shoelaces!), smelling the warm wood polish on the wooden floors of the dance studio, the thrill of leaping across the stage. I was also dreaming about those incredible tutu shows we'd put on at school. (Just you wait, dearies, one day I’m going to have a professional, high-budget production for you to see! )

So, yes, my lovely followers, the woman in the emerald dress rekindled something magical inside me. A yearning for those magical days in the studio. I don't just dance; it's a part of me, a fundamental part of my soul.

Now, about my own dress. As you all know, pink is my favourite colour (if you can’t tell, I think I have worn pink every single day in my whole life! ). So, naturally, I didn't wear a green tutu today! No, darlings, I wore the most stunning pink tutu (naturally!). It's the perfect shade of bubblegum pink, like a swirl of cotton candy with a hint of sherbet. It flows so beautifully, like a fluffy pink cloud.

After a long day, the light at the end of the tunnel, literally, came at the station. I noticed a street performer and my head practically spun. The most fabulous gentleman in a white tutu, spinning in the air in a swirling pirouette. I love when I see people outside of our bubble embracing ballet. It’s what I strive for with this blog – for everyone to live, love and dream ballet. It made my little heart leap for joy. A heart that lives, laughs and pirouettes!

Later, I found myself watching wildlife on my train ride back home to Derbyshire, my new home after my childhood years in Derby, And as the sun dipped low, painting the sky with gorgeous orange and pink hues (which naturally had my pink-loving heart singing, darlings) I couldn't help but think about all the beautiful moments of my day. The beautiful emerald green dress. The captivating performance by the street dancer in the tutu.

I really believe that the power of pink and ballet has the magic to connect everyone. Ballet is so beautiful, so elegant, so captivating - it deserves a place in everyone’s heart and on every stage. So, what are you waiting for? Go find the nearest dance class, throw on your favourite pink outfit (or maybe a fabulous green tutu) and let your inner ballerina loose!

And you know what? Maybe, just maybe, the world would be a little bit better if we all wore pink tutus and took ballet lessons. Don't you think so?

As always, I hope you loved this post, my dearest readers. Until next time, happy pirouettes and endless smiles!

Lots of love,
Emma.
