Walthamstow Whirl: A Pink Tutu Adventure

Hello my darling tututistas! 🩰💕

Today I'm shimmying straight from Derbyshire to the charming streets of Walthamstow, a vibrant corner of East London buzzing with life, colour... and believe it or not, a slight hint of tutus!

It was a glorious summer's day, perfect for a day trip. I love the train - it allows me to drift into my own world of fantastical pirouettes and graceful extensions (no one else on the train gets the spectacle of it, but that’s okay!), and dream of the grand ballet stage awaiting my arrival.

Walthamstow felt alive, the scent of flowers mingling with the aromas of freshly baked bread. I've never quite experienced the sheer vibrancy of a bustling market before - it was a kaleidoscope of colours, sounds, and textures! The stallholders, brimming with the warmest of smiles, greeted me like an old friend, each eager to share their stories and crafts. I picked up a stunning handmade pink ceramic necklace, perfectly complementing my own personal favourite - a shimmering pearl-encrusted flamingo brooch (a symbol of all things beautiful, exotic, and just a tad fabulous!).

After indulging in a deliciously fragrant Turkish Delight from a stall bursting with sweet temptations, I decided it was time for the pièce de résistance of my Walthamstow experience - the Walthamstow Theatre Royal. The building itself is a gorgeous Victorian theatre, a time capsule of charm and theatrical history, just waiting for me to step into a magical world. The energy pulsated from the moment I entered - it was simply electric.

Tonight’s performance? A thrillingly chaotic "The Taming of the Shrew" presented by the amazing East London Theatre company. The cast, fueled by the sheer joy of the performance, made me laugh out loud with their comedic timing, and feel goosebumps rise during the emotional moments. It was raw, unfiltered theatre, right in the heart of Walthamstow!

Later, I felt compelled to explore Walthamstow Village, a quiet oasis away from the market’s humdrum. It felt almost surreal to be so close to London's bustling city, and yet, feel utterly removed from its chaotic energy. The beautiful Epping Forest beckoned, and I had to obey. I followed a winding path through the verdant greenery, my imagination taking flight with each graceful stride. The sunshine, dappling through the leaves, was an enchanting display of light and shade - just like my perfect day!

This truly was a day to remember - Walthamstow will forever hold a special place in my pink tutu-filled heart. And of course, it wouldn't be a proper blog post without a little “tutu inspiration.” I wore my sunshine yellow tutu, just the right amount of sunshine to match the bright and playful atmosphere of the day! It flowed gracefully as I wandered through the market, and spun around in the shadow of the Theatre Royal. A touch of playful femininity always brightens a day, and makes life so much more fun!

Let's face it - everyone has a little inner ballerina in them. And all it takes is a bit of confidence, a whole lot of imagination, and maybe a pink tutu to set it free. Don't let anyone tell you you can't twirl in your tutu, embrace your inner ballerina and live your dreams, darling!

Until tomorrow, when we discover a new exciting adventure! 💕🩰

Love always,

Emma x
