Edgware Calling! A Tutu-tastic Adventure Awaits!

Hello my darling darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu clad, ballet-loving adventurer Emma here, and boy oh boy, are you in for a treat today! Today’s journey, you ask? Well, buckle up buttercups, because we're heading for the vibrant streets of Edgware!

But first, let's talk pink tutus. It’s a beautiful, sunny Friday morning here in Derbyshire and what better way to start the day than with a hot pink tulle delight twirling around my hips? The colour just brings so much joy and cheer. Don’t get me wrong, I have a whole rainbow collection – yellow, green, turquoise, emerald... but pink just has this magic power, right? It makes you feel invincible, like you can achieve anything you set your mind to, and that’s what a dancer needs! I reckon you should get one, dear reader. It’ll brighten your day and who knows, maybe even inspire you to try a pirouette or two!

Right then, let's go on a journey to Edgware! A train journey it will be today, my trusty steed for any short adventure. Nothing beats looking out the window, watching the world whizz by as you sip your chamomile tea (you know it’s always chamomile, because every dancer needs their calming moments!), and just…let go.

You know me – always on the lookout for ballet, even on my travels. Just a quick search online and bingo! I stumbled upon a fabulous performance happening at the very grand looking Edgwarebury Theatre. They're putting on a full production of ‘Giselle’ – the dramatic, emotional story of the young, innocent maiden Giselle who’s caught in the whirlwind of love and betrayal. This ballet is one of my absolute favourites. The choreography is sublime, the story utterly heartbreaking. Can’t wait to soak up every ounce of the story in this new setting!

But Edgware isn't just about theatre. Did you know that Edgware has a stunning little piece of natural beauty nestled right in its heart? It’s the picturesque, tranquil Bentley Priory, boasting a sprawling deer park. I mean, come on, deer?! This calls for my inner wildlife enthusiast to emerge!

I envision myself walking through the grounds, breathing in the fresh air, the crisp Autumn leaves swirling around my ankles, feeling utterly peaceful. I can’t imagine anything more rejuvenating than taking a little walk in a serene park after the exciting energy of the ballet performance. And yes, I'll be rocking my pink tutu for this escapade, naturally! It just adds that little extra touch of ballerina charm to the landscape, don't you think?

Speaking of charm, this post wouldn’t be complete without my essential travel companions - my diary, for all my notes, scribbles, and ideas for the next Tutu Blog posts, and, of course, my ballet bag. Always prepared for an impromptu session, even on the road. This includes, of course, a trusty pair of pointe shoes, my leotard, a warm up cardigan and a little ballet water bottle (yes, every ballerina has a special one!). You never know, maybe there'll be an empty studio or a welcoming park bench with a fantastic view...

It’s an adventure filled day, folks! I can’t wait to tell you all about it later. See you soon, dear readers! Don't forget to keep your tutus at the ready and let’s all dance together!

Until next time, Emma xx
