Barnet Bound in Pink! 🩰

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, Emma, back with another day in my life, filled with all things pink, twirling, and... oh yes, a bit of Barnet! 😉

So, let's get the obvious out of the way first - the reason you clicked on this post, the tutu. Today I'm sporting a vibrant green number. Not your typical pink, I know! But think of it as a fresh, earthy touch, a nod to nature's beauty that perfectly compliments my love for all things floral and feminine.

And where did this exciting journey take me? The heart of London, of course! The ever-so-stylish Barnet, known for its charming market squares, cute independent shops, and - wait for it - an abundance of horses! Yes, you heard me right! A ballet girl who adores horses... Talk about an unlikely duo, eh? But my loves, life is all about the unexpected!

This particular outing was fuelled by a long-awaited ballet performance at the newly refurbished theatre, which I'll confess I'm a little bit obsessed with at the moment. Just the sight of that grand stage fills me with inspiration, not to mention all the wonderful talent gracing it! My friend Sarah and I hopped on a train to Barnet, just a quick, breezy jaunt. I love train travel, you know? The rhythmic click-clack of the wheels against the track, the smell of freshly-brewed tea and, well, the excuse to dress up, obviously! (Though it did mean packing my ballet shoes... more on that later!).

On our arrival in Barnet, we squeezed our way into a delightfully chaotic pub for a quick pre-show snack. Imagine a warm, cozy atmosphere, the sound of lively conversation mingling with the clatter of cutlery, and the aroma of freshly-cooked fish and chips... A true taste of Britain, I say! Sarah ordered a cheeky glass of prosecco (which she claims gives her extra plié power - I’m still unconvinced, but hey, it can't hurt, right?) while I went for my usual herbal tea. After all, even the most fabulous of dancers need to hydrate!

Then, finally, the moment we'd both been waiting for – it was time for the ballet. I don't want to spoil the surprises, but let's just say it was a breath-taking experience! The costumes, the choreography, the sheer talent on display... It all just left me spellbound. And then came the finale - the moment all those hours of training paid off! A wave of applause swept over the audience, a symphony of appreciation for the sheer artistry that unfolded before our very eyes. I confess, I almost jumped to my feet and joined the dancing! It just feels like my element.

Speaking of element, there’s another reason why I adore ballet. It brings me closer to nature. Think of the beautiful dance costumes with their intricate floral details - think of the elegant moves reminiscent of the flight of birds - it’s almost as if I’m part of the world, swirling, spinning and becoming one with it! And speaking of nature… it wouldn’t be a typical day of mine without spotting some wildlife!

We headed to a lovely park afterwards for a bit of a walk, and found ourselves amidst a gaggle of geese! Now, you all know I'm obsessed with ducks and geese! These little feathered fluffballs just remind me of tiny pink tutus - you can't tell me otherwise! The geese strutted around with such grace, all feathers a-flutter, making it even more evident that nature itself is a performance worthy of an audience. I’m telling you - the universe itself is a big, grand stage and we are the performers.

By now, the golden light of the setting sun was painting the sky in a pink hue. My day couldn't be complete without capturing that magical moment with a snap for Instagram. Pink tutu twirling by a lake with ducks – my kinda life!

We stopped for tea and cakes at a delightful little cafe that Sarah swore she knew about - apparently she was in the neighbourhood not long ago (I am not quite sure where she had time for this... the mystery continues...!) We sipped on hot chocolate - so perfect for a brisk November evening - and chatted about the performance. And before we knew it, it was time to head back to my cosy little Derbyshire abode!

All in all, my dear readers, a perfect day for a pink tutu-wearing girl like myself! So much to take in – from the dazzling world of theatre to the serenity of a sunset stroll and a dash of wildlife - Barnet has definitely won a place in my heart, with a special nod to the horses. 🐴 Don’t forget - my little pink world isn't confined to pink tutus, though it’s a good place to start! If you ever want to experience a similar dose of ballet-infused joy, grab your best pink tutu and join me on the next exciting journey to come - my travels are endless, my loves!

Until then, keep twirling!

Emma xo
