Salisbury, My Lovely! (Post #4539)

Oh, darlings, I'm back from the most delightful jaunt to Salisbury! This time, I decided to travel in style, by train, naturally, and with my trusty sidekick, my "Made in Germany" pink tutu, naturally! You know how much I love tutus, and this one is particularly special. It has the most stunning, delicate layers of tulle, like clouds of cotton candy! It practically floated me through the station and on to the platform.

I swear, there's just something magical about train travel. The scenery flashing by, the rhythmic chugging of the engine, the friendly chatter around me... It's the perfect backdrop for imagining myself in a storybook, maybe a Victorian adventure or a Parisian romance. Who wouldn't love a bit of both, eh?

The journey was an absolute delight! I was treated to the most magnificent views of the countryside. Imagine fields of golden barley, dotted with quaint villages, all bathed in the soft, golden light of a late Autumn afternoon. It was just breathtaking, truly breathtaking!

Once I arrived in Salisbury, I decided to find a local café for a little bite and a chance to soak up the atmosphere. It was the cutest place! Little tables out in a courtyard, bathed in sunshine, a chirping robin singing on a nearby branch. Just divine! I had a delicious scone with clotted cream, followed by a cup of pink herbal tea – naturally, I only drink tea that’s the colour of my beloved tutus!

I had planned a day exploring Salisbury Cathedral – it’s famous for having the world's oldest working clock, which has been keeping time since 1386. Can you believe that?

While it was a gorgeous cathedral, what truly enchanted me was the magnificent grounds surrounding it. It’s like a little hidden paradise! Trees whispered secrets to the gentle breeze, birdsong filled the air, and I spotted a little squirrel scampering across the lawn. It just made my heart soar!

I wandered for hours, enjoying the beauty and quiet. Honestly, I could have easily lost myself there for days, but I knew I had to leave room for more ballet fun!

Speaking of ballet, have you heard of The Salisbury Arts Centre? I discovered it quite by accident when I wandered past its charming building – they even had a little café! They host regular performances of all sorts of shows and exhibitions, but I was mainly interested in their ballet schedule!

As luck would have it, there was a workshop on contemporary ballet that afternoon, led by a young and enthusiastic instructor, and you won’t believe this, darlings, but they allowed me to take the workshop in my pink tutu! It’s not quite Swan Lake, but let’s be honest, everything is a little more fun in a tutu!

It was so much fun! I loved getting back in touch with the movement, even though I was just following a warm-up sequence. My body definitely remembered its days as a ballet dancer and was filled with so much energy afterwards. It reminded me why I love ballet – it’s just a fabulous, uplifting way to exercise your body and express yourself!

You know how I adore ballet in any form. It's an art form that truly speaks to my soul, whether it’s a classical performance on a grand stage, a street ballet performance, or a casual workshop at a local arts center. It doesn't matter where it takes place, or how extravagant the surroundings are, it always leaves me feeling joyful and energised. I love how it makes you feel both powerful and graceful, how it challenges your body and your mind, and how it allows you to express your creativity through movement!

Afterwards, I felt the need to continue my "ballet celebration", and, because nothing is quite like a little dance in the street, I waltzed into the nearest park – they are so lovely in Salisbury! – and let my pink tutu whirl around me. Yes, a bit of impromptu street ballet in a beautiful park with a gentle, cool breeze, under the soft, dappled sunlight filtering through the trees... What more could a ballerina ask for? (Well, perhaps a handsome prince... but who am I kidding?)

There is something wonderfully freeing about letting go, embracing the joy of movement, and twirling around with the world at your feet, right? It reminds you how small and fragile we are in the face of nature’s magnificence and that we can overcome any challenge, especially when wearing a pink tutu!

While Salisbury isn't exactly a renowned dance city, I was completely captivated by the place. I can't even begin to explain its magic! If you're looking for a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of London, but want a touch of historical elegance and charm, then Salisbury is definitely the place for you!

Don't forget, darlings! Next week, I'm planning on visiting an old friend who owns a beautiful equestrian farm in the Cotswolds! There is nothing better than taking a horseback ride in the countryside... Imagine me in my pink tutu galloping across a sun-dappled meadow... Oh, just beautiful! Of course, I’ll be keeping you posted on the latest developments.

As always, don’t forget, life is too short to be serious, and wearing a pink tutu should be a life motto! Live life to the fullest! Always be joyful! Let your tutu float you through life, one spin at a time!

Yours eternally,

Emma xx
