Kingswood Calling! #4556

Hey, darlings! Emma here, bringing you the latest from my pink tutu-filled world.

As the chill of December settles in, I'm feeling a certain festive frisson! There's something about the twinkle of Christmas lights that just gets me in the mood for all things sparkly and glamorous. And what's more glamorous than a pink tutu, right?

This week I found myself swept away to the beautiful village of Kingswood in Gloucestershire. Now, anyone who knows me knows I love a good train journey, especially when it's combined with the chance to get all dressed up for a ballet outing. My journey was as charming as the countryside scenery that flew by the window, all rolling green hills and charming little villages.

As I stepped off the train, the air was crisp and invigorating. I was even lucky enough to spot a herd of deer gracefully bounding through the fields – just like in one of my favourite ballet stories! A moment later, I had found myself swept up in the festive spirit of the local Christmas market. There were twinkling lights, rows upon rows of charming little stalls selling artisan crafts, and of course, a delicious selection of mulled wine to keep the December chill at bay.

But the main event, darling, was the evening's performance by the Kingswood Ballet Company. This incredible troupe, comprised of incredibly talented young dancers, had prepared a truly magnificent adaptation of the classic “The Nutcracker”. The atmosphere inside the venue was electric! The music, the dancing, the sets… it all combined to transport me to a world of magic and wonder. There were little ballerinas, barely old enough to walk, executing breathtaking pirouettes with incredible precision and grace. My heart truly melted watching the sheer passion and joy they poured into their dancing!

This, my darlings, is what makes the ballet world so truly special. It's about far more than just the pirouettes and the pointe shoes, though we do love those, don't we? It's about the shared experience, the love of the art, the power of human expression through dance. It’s the way ballet can inspire us, empower us, and take us to new and exciting places, even just in the theatre of our minds.

As the last note faded away and the applause resonated around the theatre, I felt a wave of sheer happiness. I love moments like this – those moments when a shared passion can bring people together from all walks of life and create a truly unforgettable experience.

And just in case you needed one more reason to love Kingswood, let me tell you about their amazing local pub. They served the most delicious locally-sourced roast dinner with a side of freshly-baked bread. Of course, I indulged in a slice of their raspberry crumble afterwards - I can’t resist a good dessert, can I?

After my delicious meal, I wandered back through the bustling market, the sound of carol singers adding to the festive ambiance. This was the perfect end to a perfect day, a truly enchanting weekend break in the charming village of Kingswood.

However, before I leave you all with another warm Christmas wish, let me introduce you to my favourite new outfit – a vintage, German bodice I found on a whim. It’s the most exquisite shade of lavender and looks simply sensational with my favourite tulle skirt and a pair of sparkly black Mary Janes! (Don’t worry, darlings, you’ll get a full outfit reveal soon - it's a must!)

This is just another example of how ballet can inspire your personal style. Every tutu tells a story. Every pirouette can help you unlock a hidden facet of your personality. My aim, darlings, is to inspire you all to explore the world of ballet, take a spin in a pink tutu, and find the magic within.

Until next time, my darlings, stay stylish and embrace your inner ballerina!

Love, Emma
