Denton Diaries: Pink Tutus and Train Tracks

Post 4578

Oh my goodness, darlings! It’s Emma here, fresh off the train and back in my little flat in Derbyshire, but my head is still buzzing from my trip to Denton! Now, I know what you’re thinking – Denton? Where on earth is that?! But let me tell you, it was an absolute dream!

You see, I’m not one for stuffy planes, so I decided to take the train. Something about watching the scenery flash past, sipping a cuppa, and catching up on some juicy gossip magazines is the ultimate way to travel. This time, though, I made it even more fabulous – I donned my newest pink tutu (a dreamy silk number with a touch of silver sequins!) for the journey. Let’s be honest, the world needs more tutus on public transport, right?

Denton, it turns out, is a charming little town, nestled amongst rolling hills and dotted with quaint pubs. My reason for going? The annual Denton Ballet Festival! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was to see the performances! They were spectacular – the choreography was jaw-droppingly creative, the dancers were so elegant, and the whole atmosphere was electric. I even snagged a picture with a delightful gentleman who swore he saw a tutu in the audience and thought he'd come over for a chat. You know I love a bit of tutu-themed chatter!

But of course, a visit to Denton wasn't all about ballet, my darlings! It wouldn’t be an Emma adventure without a spot of wildlife spotting. I stumbled upon this incredible woodland just a short walk from the station, and oh, my dears! It was magical. I saw a cheeky squirrel munching on acorns, a little owl peeking from a tree trunk, and the most beautiful flock of pink-tinged robins – absolutely breathtaking! I’m sure they thought the pink tutu was a fellow bird. You know, I wouldn’t blame them!

The food in Denton was an absolute treat too! I tucked into a delicious steak and ale pie (with lashings of creamy mashed potatoes, of course!), followed by a sticky toffee pudding that had my taste buds singing! And don’t even get me started on the local cider – a perfect pairing for a cosy evening by the fireplace at the pub.

Now, back to the real reason for my travels – the Denton Ballet Festival. You know I always say, ballet is for everyone! There's nothing more thrilling than seeing so many passionate souls on stage, sharing their stories and emotions through the beautiful language of dance. It fills my heart with such joy. And seeing children enthralled by the dancers, eyes wide with wonder – that's magic!

Oh, and of course, I couldn't resist joining in the fun. There was an open class on Tuesday – a beginners' session – and let me tell you, it was absolute bliss! We learned some basic steps and positions, and I have to say, even my aching muscles (from that train journey, darling!) couldn’t stop me from feeling a sense of pure joy!

This trip to Denton has definitely reignited my passion for ballet, travel, and everything fabulous. It's made me even more determined to get everyone wearing pink tutus and doing ballet! It’s a little slice of heaven on earth – pure and simple, full of joy, passion, and oh so much beauty!

If you’re looking for a weekend getaway with a dash of fairytale, Denton should definitely be on your list. Who knows? You might just find yourself wanting to wear a pink tutu after a magical experience, like mine. Just imagine it, a pink tutu parade through Denton!

Stay tuned, lovelies, because I have another incredible adventure planned next week, and this time, I'm venturing to… drumroll … well, you'll just have to wait and see!

Love always,

Emma xx
