Wigston Magna: A Tutu-tastic Adventure!

Hello darlings! Emma here, ready to whisk you away on a whirlwind tour of Wigston Magna, a delightful little town just outside Leicester. Today's adventure took a bit of a twist, because while I usually prefer a dash in the carriage, this time, I boarded a vintage train!

I have to admit, there's a certain charm to the clanging and clanking of a train journey, the gentle sway of the carriage, and the nostalgic "chuff" of the engine. It definitely inspired a little 19th-century ballet performance in my head! My tutu, by the way, was a glorious bubblegum pink masterpiece, perfect for capturing the whimsical spirit of this trip.

Now, Wigston Magna itself is a lovely, quiet town. It’s one of those places where you can feel time slow down. A lovely green space called "Wigston Fields" became my first stop. As I strolled along, I couldn’t help but be struck by how charming it all was. Quaint houses with pretty gardens, children playing in the park – it was so refreshing!

My heart fluttered when I noticed a quaint antique shop on the main street, with a sign proclaiming "Curiosity Corner." Inside, I found an array of enchanting treasures! It was a delightful rummage through vintage books, dusty china ornaments, and – you guessed it! – a delightful little pink ballerina doll! Now, she has pride of place on my dressing table, looking on with twinkling eyes as I practise my barre work.

After all that treasure hunting, a proper tea stop was absolutely mandatory. The aroma of freshly brewed Earl Grey with a touch of honey lured me to a tea room called “The Duchess.” The delicate pastries and sandwiches were as delectable as they were beautifully presented. The teacup and saucer, a delicate floral pattern in softest pastel shades, reminded me of something a ballet dancer in a period drama would use.

Later on, the day took a delightful twist! As I continued exploring, a sound that resonated deep in my soul led me to a park, a playground for children... and a vibrant group of young people enjoying an energetic Street Ballet class! Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s something absolutely beautiful and captivating about traditional ballet. But there's just something absolutely infectious and freeing about Street Ballet!

These young people danced with incredible passion, drawing inspiration from hip-hop, modern dance, and classic ballet. Their expressions of joy and creativity were utterly contagious! They’d move like a shimmering ribbon, their smiles as bright as the sun. The movement was powerful and expressive – you could feel their emotions! I found myself tapping my toes and practically hopping to the beat of their street-inspired choreography.

Let me tell you, seeing them made my heart sing! I’d love to see more communities embraced by the magic of dance, not just the traditional ballet but all forms! After all, there’s something undeniably powerful in movement. It connects us to something beyond words.

Speaking of connection, even my trip was punctuated by an encounter with the local wildlife. A family of ducks, quacking merrily, followed me along the canal that runs through town. I felt like a magical being, my pink tutu swirling around me like the feathery tail of a graceful swan. It’s little moments like this that remind me just how beautiful life truly is.

Wigston Magna – it truly stole a piece of my heart! This lovely, gentle town showed me the joys of discovering new places, the pleasure of being transported back in time by a vintage train journey, and the awe-inspiring power of street ballet. It’s a place where the air smells like blooming flowers and kindness hangs heavy in the air.

My friends, you really must make your own little adventures, however near or far! You'd be surprised what's waiting to be discovered, tucked away in the most unexpected corners of life. Whether it’s a quaint village or a bustling city, whether you're twirling in a tutu or a fancy dress, every moment holds a unique adventure waiting to be experienced. So go out there and explore! I'm off to dream of ballet under the stars, and of course, to plan my next whimsical, tutu-tastic adventure.

Stay stylish, stay fabulous,

Emma x
