Wellington Whirlwind: A Tutu Tale #4635

Oh my darlings, I'm writing this from a cosy little cafe in Wellington, New Zealand! Just yesterday I arrived on the most beautiful train journey from Auckland. I adore train travel – all the views, the chitter chatter with fellow passengers, and of course, the chance to gaze out the window in awe of the scenery and imagine a grand, sweeping ballet set, set against such beautiful landscapes!

Speaking of scenery, Wellington is truly stunning. This harbourside city is like something out of a fairytale. Imagine me, your favourite pink-tutu wearing ballerina, walking down Lambton Quay with a view of the harbour shimmering in the sunlight. I'm in my trademark pink tutu, this time with a splash of emerald green, a tribute to the verdant hills and swaying green palms all around!

It’s no secret, my dears, I love a bit of green. But nothing beats the excitement of a pink tutu! Especially when I'm on a quest to share the magic of ballet with the world. It’s not just about the tutus, although they do make it so much more fun! Ballet, my loves, is all about elegance, grace, and telling stories with our bodies. And oh, how I love telling stories!

So what has this Wellington whirlwind been all about? Well, first up, it's a little birdy told me that there is an incredible wildlife sanctuary not too far away from the city. Naturally, my inner animal lover went into overdrive. And who doesn’t love getting up close and personal with gorgeous creatures like native parrots and playful otters? The sanctuary, nestled amidst lush native bush, was a little slice of paradise.

After a day spent with these delightful creatures, it was time to immerse myself in Wellington’s thriving cultural scene. You know, my darlings, I have this insatiable appetite for theatre and dance performances, it's just a part of my being. Luckily, I'm never far away from a stage.

This evening, I'm attending a performance of "Giselle", the epitome of a classic ballet. Oh, the beautiful music, the breathtaking choreography, and the sheer storytelling of it all – it’s why I adore this art form so much! I'm absolutely buzzing with anticipation!

Speaking of "Giselle," I spent this morning enjoying a ballet class at the beautiful Wellington City Ballet School. Now, don't think for a second that just because I have this love affair with all things tutu, I'm not also dedicated to my practice! In fact, you could call me the eternal student.

And my dears, you just HAVE to try it! You might think it’s just for teeny tiny girls, but you'd be wrong! It’s all about expressing yourself through movement and embracing the artistry. I've even taught ballet to grown-ups, and trust me, they love it! Who needs Zumba when you've got a pirouette? The joy on their faces when they nail a fouetté is something truly magical, my darlings.

Speaking of joy, let me tell you a little secret: the city itself, my lovelies, is bursting with colourful joy! Imagine me walking along Cuba Street with my pink tutu fluttering in the breeze as I marvel at the street art, the unique boutiques, and the lively cafes – just brimming with creativity and happiness!

One thing I just love about New Zealand, my darlings, is its openness to the arts and creativity. Everyone here, from the locals to the visitors, seems so keen to express themselves and get involved in all sorts of amazing events. They definitely share my passion for the colour pink too! I've seen so many splashes of pink everywhere I go – pink dresses, pink bicycles, pink flowers! It's a true celebration of the vibrant colour of joy and life.

I'll be taking a few horseback riding excursions in the countryside soon - nothing quite beats the feel of a horse between your legs! A fantastic way to explore, wouldn't you say? My pink tutu is already ready to gallop through fields, imagine the gentle sway and the fluttering tulle against the wind - what a vision!

In the meantime, I'll keep you updated on all the latest tutu happenings from my trip!

Stay tutu-tastic, my loves, and never be afraid to add a splash of pink and pirouette your way into a more wonderful life.

Until next time, Emma.
