Hello, my gorgeous ballet bunnies! ?✨ It’s your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, Emma, here, reporting live from the charming town of Colchester! Today’s adventure took me on a lovely train journey – nothing beats a scenic ride with a good book and a cup of tea, especially when you’re headed towards the magic of a new city. ?☕️
Colchester is like a dream straight out of a Jane Austen novel – quaint, charming, and brimming with history. Just the sight of the majestic Colchester Castle is enough to send my imagination soaring. ? And who knows, maybe a dashing gentleman in a top hat and tails will be my next dance partner! ? (Just kidding… maybe.)
Speaking of dancing, Colchester is quite the ballet haven! My weekend schedule is packed to the brim with delights:
Friday: It's the grand opening of the Colchester Ballet Festival! You know me, I can’t resist a good opening night, and this one promises to be extra special with a showcase of emerging local talent. Plus, there might just be a little post-performance reception, where I might just get to mingle with other ballet lovers… perhaps even snag some insider tips on the best local ballet classes!?
Saturday: A matinee showing of Swan Lake at the charming Mercury Theatre! Oh, how I adore this timeless classic! I can practically hear the strains of Tchaikovsky's music now and feel the graceful movements of the swans sweeping through my mind. ?? Can't wait to be captivated by the elegant choreography and stunning costumes! ?
Sunday: I’m excited to explore Colchester’s beautiful countryside! Maybe I’ll find a scenic spot to try out my ballet stretches… or perhaps a picturesque field to have a tutu-clad photoshoot? ? It wouldn’t be a complete Colchester adventure without a dose of fresh air and a dash of pink, wouldn’t you agree? ?
Speaking of pink, the city itself is bursting with colour! My suitcase is already overflowing with pink ballet clothes, a stunning floral tutu, and some fabulously fluffy pink slippers. I'm determined to make Colchester a pink ballet wonderland. Let's face it, the world is just a little brighter when you embrace the pink, and there’s no better way to embrace it than with a tutu! ?
And just to add a dash of wildness to this already fabulous weekend, I’ve planned a visit to Colchester Zoo. I simply adore animals, especially those that inspire me with their graceful movements. Who knows, maybe I'll see a cheetah as nimble as a ballet dancer or an elegant swan that moves with the same poise as the ballerina in Swan Lake! ??
