Gateshead, Oh My! Tutu-tastic Travels in a Red Dream!

Helloooo, my gorgeous darlings! It's Emma here, your ever-so-slightly-obsessed-with-pink, tutu-twirling bestie, reporting live from the oh-so-stylish city of Gateshead!

Let me tell you, my journey up north was positively dreamy. It was a lovely crisp day, perfect for hopping on a train and enjoying the English countryside scenery. As always, I made sure my red tutu was centre stage, shimmering and swirling as the train sped past quaint villages and rolling fields. The sunlight hit it just right, making it practically glow. It's the colour, I tell you, it just demands attention!

Once I reached Gateshead, my dear friend Amelia met me at the station. She's a fellow tutu enthusiast (with a particular fondness for emerald green, of course!), and she knows all the best places in town.

We took a charming little walk to the Quayside, breathing in the fresh, salty air. This beautiful riverside area was buzzing with activity! There were performers juggling, street musicians making joyful music, and even a flock of graceful swans gliding by, totally making me wish I could gracefully glide through the air like that too!

The centrepiece, of course, is the Sage Gateshead - this stunning, futuristic-looking concert hall, all gleaming curves and silvery metal. Amelia told me about its impressive acoustics and its world-class repertoire of concerts, including everything from jazz to classical to, yes, you guessed it - ballet! It was love at first sight, or should I say first glance?

Now, as you all know, I'm a girl who loves a good theatrical experience. But even with my unwavering ballet love, nothing quite prepares you for the Royal Ballet's performance at the Sage. It was a performance of "Giselle," a truly breathtaking and heartbreaking classic. My red tutu felt like it belonged on the stage with them! I just adore the way a dancer can communicate such a powerful story through movement, expression, and, of course, that iconic ballerina tutu!

It felt as if the entire building was vibrating with the power of the music and the beauty of the dancers. Their steps were effortless, their leaps soaring, their stories brought to life through every graceful turn. Oh, to move like them!

Afterwards, we strolled around Gateshead's vibrant and charming Market Square, enjoying a delicious street food feast (can't beat a good halloumi burger!). And then, we simply had to check out the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. It’s this incredibly cool bridge that literally tilts to allow boats to pass underneath. As I stood on the bridge, watching it twist and turn, I thought, “Isn't this exactly what we should do with our lives? Embrace change, be flexible, and move with the flow." I don't think anyone was expecting this philosophical revelation from the tutu-wearing dancer girl, but hey, sometimes inspiration hits you in the most unexpected ways!

That evening, my friend Amelia treated me to dinner at a delightful little bistro with tables lining the windows overlooking the river Tyne. Amelia was excited to show me this restaurant, especially since they've been offering pink prosecco for a special “tutu time” for the past couple of months. Of course, as a lover of all things pink, I couldn't resist trying a glass - absolutely divine!

It really was a lovely, inspiring trip. I even snagged a picture in front of the Tyne Bridge, which was, you guessed it, a perfect spot to show off my bright red tutu!

So, here’s the big question. Who’s joining me on my next adventure? We'll explore new places, dance like nobody’s watching, and spread the pink tutu gospel far and wide.

Because life’s too short to wear boring clothes and not be surrounded by those who share our passion for twirling, graceful movement, and all things pretty!

Until next time, my lovelies, stay fabulous, stay pink, and, of course, stay twirling!

With much love,

Emma x
