Newbury Calling: Pancakes & Pirouettes in a Pink Paradise!

Post 4812

Oh my darlings,

This little ballerina has been twirling her way around the country and I have a story that's positively bursting with frills and fluff to share! Today, my adventure took me to the charming town of Newbury, where the air was crisp, the cobblestones were polished, and my heart was singing with the sweet scent of fresh-baked pancakes… but more on those in a minute!

Firstly, a word about trains. Oh, the thrill of the journey! There's something truly magical about watching the world zip past, particularly when it's sprinkled with rolling countryside and quaint, English villages. My day began in Derbyshire, where I boarded the train, all dolled up in a bright, pink tutu with feathers – it always sets the mood for a fabulous day!

As the train carried me along, I dreamt of all the wonderful things waiting for me in Newbury. Would there be a vintage boutique hiding a treasure trove of ballet shoes? Would I spot a majestic horse in a field, prancing with all the elegance of a prima ballerina? (Sadly, no horse sighting this time, but I did meet a very sweet swan at the local park, who let me feed him breadcrumbs. Just a tiny bit of wildlife fun!)

Newbury, oh Newbury, how you charm my little soul! A bustling town with a charming heart, you are a true delight to wander through. And to think, you also happen to boast a rather exceptional pancake shop - 'Pancake Perfection', it was called, a quirky, pink paradise where every treat was spun with love and a sprinkle of fairy dust! (OK, maybe not the fairy dust but I always hope so.) I treated myself to a mountain of pancakes with lashings of cream and blueberries - it was heavenly!

Oh, and you won't believe what happened next… I walked into the local library and discovered a poster for a ballet workshop! My heart did a double pirouette in my chest. Could it be true? Of course it was! It was all happening right in Newbury - ballet and pancakes, what a divine combination! I swiftly signed myself up for the workshop, and even convinced two girls, with pink tutus I must say (well, the only sensible attire when one wants to embrace the grace of dance!), to join me for a little class of twirls and leaps.

The workshop was heavenly! We worked on pliés and relevés, stretching those beautiful ballet muscles and perfecting those graceful movements. I can honestly say it was just the right tonic for a tiring trip. It also made me realise that there's no place like a ballet studio to discover joy, confidence, and beauty - it’s where every movement is a story waiting to be told.

Here's the truth – I don’t want to sound preachy but there's a magic that unfolds when you embrace the joy of ballet, and you can find it everywhere! So, do yourselves a favour, my lovelies - grab a pink tutu, a bright smile, and find yourself a ballet class. Or, even better, start one of your own! We need more pink tutus in the world and you know what they say, right? If you’ve got it, flaunt it!

Love and happy twirls,

Emma x
