Borehamwood Bound - Tutu Time! 🩰

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm off on a little adventure, and this time, it's to Borehamwood! Who's excited for a trip to the heart of London's theatreland?! I certainly am!

I’m taking the train this time, a glorious steam engine pulling into Derbyshire station all puffs of smoke and elegance. I feel like I’ve stepped into one of my favourite ballet stories – all drama and mystery, but with a happy ending for me. I'm sipping a chamomile tea, snuggled into my favourite carriage, dreaming about what my trip will bring. I’ve already picked out the perfect tutu, naturally, a glorious shade of pink. I think the pink tulle will absolutely shimmer in the train window! I'll post a pic on my Instagram, follow me @EmmaTutuAdventures.

Oh, Borehamwood! You've always had a special place in my heart. It’s so quintessentially British, full of history and charm, with its Victorian brickwork and its charming old pubs. But for me, the real allure of Borehamwood lies within the theatres and studios that dot the landscape. It’s a place that sings with creativity! I imagine the vibrant energy, the laughter, the passion for storytelling that must fill the air. Can’t you just hear it? The music, the tap-tap-tap of dancer's feet, the low murmur of actors prepping lines - it's a melody of pure artistic joy!

Speaking of artistic joy, the main reason for my trip to Borehamwood? To see the ballet, of course! A new production of "Swan Lake" is gracing the stage this weekend. It’s set to be a visual masterpiece, with a captivating mix of traditional beauty and modern touches. I can just imagine the dazzling sets, the elegant costumes and the exquisite choreography. I’m almost certain the company will have their own pink tutus. How chic would it be if we had a pink tutu flashmob?! Now that's a thought to bring to life!

But before the ballet, it's ballet class time! I’m already warming up those calf muscles, my leotard is ready and my trusty pink tutu is on the bag. My favorite dance teacher, Miss. D. lives near Borehamwood so this trip also has a perfect dance class waiting for me. There's something so magical about sharing the joy of movement with a group of fellow dancers. It's a moment of pure grace, a feeling of being connected to something bigger than yourself. It’s the purest form of joy, the language of the soul expressed through movement, and what could be more delightful than to share that language?

My love affair with dance, you know, goes far beyond the stage, dear friends. Ballet is woven into every facet of my life. Even on a day like this, I see a graceful dance in the clouds above, the gentle swaying of a willow in the breeze, and a synchronized elegance in the flock of starlings I saw on my train journey this morning. Ballet isn't confined to a stage, you see. It's everywhere! Even my travel outfit - a little blush-colored vintage coat that cinches me in just so and makes me feel like I’m gliding through the streets like a Parisian ballerina – whispers of the art form that owns my heart.

Now, the fun thing is, my Borehamwood trip doesn't stop with dance and theatre. I’m looking forward to exploring the picturesque countryside that surrounds the town. Perhaps I'll take a stroll through the local nature reserve, get my daily dose of Vitamin D (and hopefully some breathtaking photography!) - after all, the vibrant colors of nature are just another beautiful form of art! I'm on the lookout for a perfect wildflower meadow that I can recreate in one of my next painting sketches, maybe with a hint of ballet choreography for my fellow dancers! It is the only kind of choreography that fits this pink-tutu girl.

But the highlight of my countryside escapade is definitely going to be a horse-drawn carriage ride through the countryside. I’ve always been smitten with the magic of horses – their grace, their intelligence, the way they move so effortlessly. The gentle rocking of the carriage as it travels through the green, lush landscape - ah, it’s truly a fairytale experience.

Borehamwood, you truly have something special to offer, and I can’t wait to embrace it all! From the artistry on stage to the beauty of nature, it’s an opportunity for my inner ballerina to bloom. So stay tuned, dear friends, because my Borehamwood adventure is just getting started, and there’s a whole lot of pink tutu-licious moments to come! I’m bringing you along for every twirl and every gallop! Until next time!
