Walkden Wonder: A Pink Tutu Adventure!

Hello my darling dancers! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, Emma, back with another fabulous post! I’ve been on the road again this week, but this time, I wasn't travelling by my usual mode of transport - the train (although let's be honest, a horse and carriage would be absolutely delightful!), I decided to hop on a bus for a little change.

My journey led me to the delightful town of Walkden. Now, I’ve been all over, from London’s West End to the rolling hills of Derbyshire (where I call home!), and let me tell you, Walkden is a gem. The air was crisp, the sky was a dazzling blue, and everything just seemed to hum with life. It felt so… pink! Not literally, but if it did, that wouldn't surprise me - pink just makes me happy, you know?

I always try to make my outfit work for wherever I’m going, and Walkden called for a statement. I wore my fabulous pink tulle tutu (a real eye-catcher!) over a floaty white shirt, teamed with some sassy cherry red heels and a black beret to add that extra touch of sophistication. I’m always keen to inject some personality into my wardrobe, so of course, I accessorised with a dazzling pink feather boa, because who doesn’t love a little feather boa? And of course, my signature ballet flats were in my tote bag, ready to be slipped on for any impromptu pliés!

Anyway, back to Walkden. I started my day at a lovely little bakery, lured in by the smell of fresh bread and the promise of a perfect croissant. I swear, they even had a pink one – you just can't get away from pink when you’re with me, darlings! Afterwards, I had the most delicious lunch in a charming café - a hearty salad, naturally, perfect for a dancer’s active lifestyle. They even had pink lemonade - just my luck!

In the afternoon, I headed to the local park. The autumn leaves were bursting into their full glory – such a stunning sight! I couldn’t resist grabbing my pink camera (a gift from my mother) and capturing a few snaps of the glorious colours. It’s a must for my ballet-inspired nature journal, where I jot down all my ideas and sketches! And let me tell you, those colours, those trees… they are like dancers moving in a beautiful ballet, with nature itself providing the choreography!

One of my favourite things to do when I’m on the road is to visit the local library. This time was no exception. I wandered through the aisles, browsing the latest dance books and magazines. Imagine my delight when I stumbled across a new edition of Dance Magazine! I snatched it up faster than a dancer could turn en pointe – it was fate! It was packed with all sorts of ballet goodness - reviews of upcoming performances, tips on improving your technique, and even an interview with my favourite ballerina! How could I resist?

As the day wore on, it was time for a dose of ballet culture, Walkden style. The town has a little ballet school tucked away in a beautiful old Victorian building. The outside looked so inviting! Even the street was cobblestone – oh, how I love a little old-world charm!

I decided to go in for a little impromptu class. As always, I packed my ballet shoes and a pink water bottle – never leave home without them! You’d be surprised at how many times I’ve popped in to random dance studios, grabbed a space in a class, and just enjoyed myself. The students were amazing! Full of enthusiasm and joy. And the instructor - oh, her teaching was pure inspiration. I swear I heard a few "olé"s during the class!

The school had this gorgeous pink pointe shoe lamp - what an amazing decoration. I took a few photos and was dreaming up some ideas for the living room at home – it could be my next project! Pink-themed decor is definitely what my life needs!

Later that evening, I had dinner at a cozy local restaurant. The food was divine – especially the mashed potatoes with butter! But then again, what could be more perfect for a dance girl? That evening, I found a quirky little pub on the corner of a quiet street and enjoyed a cup of tea, my favourite warm drink, alongside a little slice of cake, all before settling down to watch the stars, mesmerised by their silent ballet across the dark, velvety canvas of the sky.

You know, that’s the thing I love most about travelling – experiencing new things and discovering new parts of the world. And no matter where I am, whether it's a big city or a quiet village, I can always find a little bit of magic and wonder. Walkden has certainly shown me that.

So, my dearest readers, why don’t you take a little trip yourself? Pack a pink tutu (and maybe even a little pink feather boa!) and set off on an adventure! It might just change your life – just like it changed mine. Until next time, darling dancers, may your days be filled with pirouettes, joy and all things pink!

Much love,

Emma xxx
