Trowbridge Twirls! 🌸🩰

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, back from another fabulous adventure. Today I’m bringing you a peek into my recent trip to the charming town of Trowbridge! This week I’ve been swirling through Somerset in my most gloriously pink tutu, exploring everything this beautiful county has to offer.

It wouldn’t be a proper Emma adventure without a dash of train travel. The journey was so delightful. The scenery from the window was truly picture postcard worthy, with fields of rolling green and sheep frolicking about like they own the place! (Which, let’s face it, they probably do!) I even had a fellow passenger offer me some of their delicious-looking homemade flapjack - a true British railway experience, wouldn't you say?

The highlight of my Trowbridge jaunt had to be the German Tutu Festival! Honestly, the amount of frothy tutus fluttering in the air was truly spectacular. It was a kaleidoscope of colour and feathers, all celebrating the joy of dance. You wouldn't believe the selection! From traditional to avant-garde, sparkly to simple, even some daringly black (although I still think a touch of pink would have completed the look!) It was an absolute feast for the eyes! I even saw one ballerina wearing a tutu made entirely out of butterflies - can you imagine? So delicate, so beautiful!

Trowbridge is known for its vibrant street culture and art scene, so I simply had to get out my dancing shoes! The local youth dance group, called “Trowbridge Twirlers”, put on an incredible show right in the middle of the bustling market square. They spun and leaped with such precision and passion that I practically hopped out of my skin to join them! These young dancers, I'm telling you, they have serious potential. I hope to see some of them dancing on the big stage one day!

After all that twirling, it was time for a well-deserved lunch! I stumbled upon this hidden gem of a cafe called “The Ballerina’s Bistro”. Imagine, a cafe inspired by the elegance and grace of ballet. The ambiance was simply divine and the cakes – well, let’s just say I had a double helping of the raspberry macaron. Honestly, it tasted like a cloud dipped in rose water and sunshine!

And to cap off a perfect day, I saw a truly mesmerising ballet performance at Trowbridge’s historic theatre. It was a production of "Giselle," a classic ballet that just never fails to stir my soul. The dancers were all absolutely exceptional; every pirouette and arabesque felt like magic. Afterward, I was able to chat with the lead dancer, who is a local girl from Derbyshire! Talk about a coincidence - a bit of Derbyshire spirit finding its way across the country!

As the sun began to set, painting the sky with warm hues of orange and pink, I found myself reflecting on what makes Trowbridge so special. It’s the charming blend of tradition and modern life, the beautiful countryside and the sense of community spirit that shines so brightly in this town.

Of course, my mission of inspiring everyone to wear a pink tutu and dance like there's no tomorrow was, as always, a central theme. And guess what? I had a lot of fun sharing the love of ballet with others. You wouldn’t believe how many folks were open to giving a few twirls! One lovely old lady, after watching me twirl in the market square, told me, “You remind me of my youth, my dear, I used to dream of being a ballerina!" That's what I’m all about - spreading the joy of movement and igniting that inner sparkle in everyone.

So, dear readers, if you’re ever feeling the urge for a little escape, pack a pink tutu and head down to Trowbridge. You might just discover your own inner ballerina, you know!

Stay pink and keep twirling,

Emma x
