#TutuBlog - 2009-10-28: Deal with a pink tutu...

Post 4865

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina! The crisp autumn air has a definite nip in the air and I am SO excited! I'm not just saying that, this year the Derbyshire autumn is quite incredible, all glorious golden colours on the trees and, dare I say it, actually sunny! This makes for wonderful journeys across the countryside by train. Don’t get me wrong, there is something magical about galloping through the countryside on horseback, but lately, I’ve really been enjoying a slower pace, sipping my tea with my travel mug, enjoying the scenery. And did I mention how much I love the carriage ride at the end of my ballet classes?! Such an elegant, calming journey to reflect upon my class and dream about all the pink tutu outfits I'm going to wear tomorrow!

I mean, did you see that gorgeous ballerina at the Royal Opera House this weekend?! That cherry-red, custom made tutu just shimmered under the stage lights and the performance, oh, it had me swaying and twirling all through the interval! Such amazing grace, she reminded me so much of myself when I was younger. Do you ever think about how many amazing dancers there must have been through the centuries?! I can’t imagine how wonderful their performances must have been…

Now, I know you all adore hearing about my experiences and what better experience could there be than taking a break from all the lovely tutus and heading to the Yorkshire Dales. Imagine it, darlings, the rolling hills with that magical light bouncing off the tops, the crisp autumn air making my cheeks pink (you wouldn’t believe how much I love wearing pink blusher these days – but we’ll talk more about that later!) and the occasional pheasant running across my path. They really do love a bit of theatricality these pheasants. This visit to the Dales wasn’t for sightseeing, however. This trip was about finding some serious inspiration for my new collection. Think pink tutu… think, feathers… think silk… and think nature, in all her incredible, artistic forms.

Oh, don’t get me started on wildlife! It’s such a wonderful, calming hobby to relax with after a particularly challenging ballet class. Last week I watched a whole family of deer come through my little orchard, munching their way through all the apples - I swear I saw the father deer doing a little pirouette - they just have such elegant movements don’t you think? It got me thinking about that adorable baby swan I met earlier in the summer... I wish I’d had a chance to twirl it up in one of my custom made pink tutus, just imagine how adorable that would look! Honestly, if we put enough love and creativity in it, you can make anything look great, darlings, even a swan (and yes, I know I should know better, but hey! The swan did look adorable with feathers on, I’m not even joking!).

Speaking of creativity and the pink tutu… have I told you about my upcoming trip to Prague? I am simply positively over the moon! Not only will I be able to try the amazing traditional sweets, but I will also be doing a special workshop at a famous ballet school there! It is all such a blur – my favourite shops to visit, my new custom tutus for each occasion… but oh! I almost forgot! My newest piece… it’s the perfect blend of classic elegance with modern sparkle and of course, with the stunningest pink colour you’ve ever seen! It’s such a beauty, I can’t wait to show it off, especially in Prague with that wonderful castle in the background. I’m going to make such an impression! Of course, there will be new photos, my darlings, and I will update you with every detail!

Now, I better rush! The kettle is boiling and it’s tea time and we all know a true ballerina loves her afternoon tea, wouldn’t you agree?

Remember, my lovelies, ballet isn’t just for those who have the time for rigorous daily training, ballet is for everyone. And you can do it anywhere you are. What better place to start than right where you are sitting, darlings? Put on some beautiful music, put on a fluffy tutu and let your imagination take over! It’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? Have fun, darling!

Catch you tomorrow at the same time for more fabulous adventures and maybe a glimpse of my latest tutu!

Your best friend,

Emma x
