Hindley - Ballet in the Borders

Oh, hello darlings! It’s Emma here, writing to you from the most charming little town in the North West – Hindley! I know, I know, not the most glamorous location, but let me tell you, this little place has got charm for days.

Trains, Trains, and More Trains

How did I get here? Well, as you know, my love for trains is almost as strong as my love for pink tutus (almost!) and I couldn’t resist taking the train. The journey was gorgeous – whizzing past fields and towns, watching the sun set over the Derbyshire countryside. I swear, train journeys just have a way of making you feel so romantic and whimsical. It’s no wonder I’m always inspired to write after a trip by rail!

Pink Perfection in Hindley

And what does one wear to a day of exploration in a new town, you ask? Why, a pink tutu of course! I packed a gorgeous little number for this trip, and it’s just perfect. The pink is such a vibrant, almost neon shade that it stands out against the grey cobblestones of the streets here. It's all about a little pop of colour! I'm wearing a delicate, hand-stitched leotard that almost looks like it's a work of art. It has such delicate lace details and its absolutely european inspired, in a vintage kind of way. The pink makes it feel fresh, new and, oh yes, it does give the outfit the right sort of chic, edgy twist.

The Ballet Charm of Hindley

Anyway, enough about my outfit! I have to tell you all about why Hindley was a must-see on my tour this week. Let's be honest, the heart of a ballet girl will always get excited about finding dance-related places to explore. I discovered this lovely dance studio hidden away in a little cobbled street called Hindley Dance Academy. It was pure ballet magic.

As I peered through the window, a whole class of little ballerinas, each dressed in beautiful pink tutus of their own, was busy learning to leap and pirouette. They were so focused, so determined – just like me when I was their age. And it reminded me of the pure joy and beauty of ballet.

It was all a bit too tempting to pass by. So I stepped inside, introduced myself, and talked to the wonderful instructor who explained all about the dance academy and all its fantastic programs. The owner, Helen, had started this studio after decades of professional dance – quite the incredible story, right? She let me have a little twirl on the beautiful wooden floor, just to feel the atmosphere. It felt like such an intimate and supportive community.

I can tell it’s a place where they really nurture a love of ballet and encourage their students to dream big, so you just know they’ll have some seriously talented dancers emerging from this little dance studio in the years to come!

Pink-Tutu Adventures Continue

So what's next on the Pink-Tutu journey? Tomorrow, I’m going to check out this fascinating wildlife sanctuary near here – the RSPB reserve! Yes, ballet dancers aren’t all about pink tutus and glamorous life, we love getting up close to nature too!

I’ve packed my pink binoculars, so I can watch the amazing birds that live in the reserve - owls, kestrels, and maybe even a cheeky little sparrowhawk, if I’m lucky. Plus, who knows? Perhaps a few swans, too? Ballet and wildlife - what a magical combination, right?

Don’t forget to check back on www.pink-tutu.com for my adventures from the RSPB tomorrow.

Stay twirling, my darlings! Emma
