Helloooo my darlings! It's Emma, and guess what? I'm in Liverpool! 🏙️
Yes, this fabulous city of culture and music is calling, and I've answered, of course! It’s been ages since I’ve ventured up North, and I can’t wait to soak in the atmosphere, explore the incredible museums and art galleries, and even maybe squeeze in a ballet class – one can never have too much ballet! 🩰
My journey began in good old Derbyshire, as usual, where I’ve spent the last few weeks practicing at my local ballet school and getting my dance-life in tip-top shape. A cheeky little walk to the stables to visit my favourite steed, Pepper, and a leisurely breakfast at the cafe on the village green always set me up for the day perfectly. But, it was time for me to head north to the magical city of Liverpool, so I boarded the train, nestled into my comfy seat, enjoyed the view zipping by, and had my own little pink ballet-themed picnic. 💖
One of my favorite things about travelling by train is the anticipation of getting there. The constant movement of the scenery outside my window somehow fills me with joy and anticipation. Maybe it's the freedom, the excitement of adventure. Either way, I find myself totally immersed in the whole journey.
As the train chugged on towards my destination, I pulled out my trusty sketchpad and started sketching. (And, of course, my new pink glitter pen.) I jotted down all the inspiring things I'd seen - the quaint cottages with blooming window boxes, the babbling brook in the sunshine, a family of deer crossing the railway tracks - and, yes, I even drew a picture of my red tutu, which is looking amazingly perfect for a ballet class planned for tomorrow. The closer I got to Liverpool, the more excitement bubbled up inside me. Liverpool is synonymous with music - Beatles anyone? - and music makes me want to dance, and dancing is my life! What a wonderful combination! It also reminded me of my favorite Liverpool-themed dance, The Merseybeat, which I always include in my online ballet lessons (If you fancy joining a live one - there are more being added weekly!)
My first stop, as soon as I set foot in the beautiful city, was to the majestic Anglican Cathedral. My word! It's simply breath-taking! Its towering structure and gothic arches made me feel incredibly small - which was slightly overwhelming, but I must confess that this kind of beauty really makes me think about the magic of architecture, art and dance. A perfect inspirational visit!
From the Cathedral, it was on to the Cavern Club – yes, the one and only! As a big music lover, it was almost a religious pilgrimage. The energy inside was incredible, even without any live music, just stepping on that stage felt so full of vibrant energy and history - it was truly an inspiring place.
Now, let's talk about the ballet! Tonight I’m seeing the world-famous Royal Ballet perform at the beautiful Liverpool Empire Theatre. And yes, of course, I’ve got my sparkly pink outfit on, my favourite red tutu resting neatly in a bag ready for tomorrow, and, naturally, my gorgeous, red ballet pumps are on my feet. Nothing less for a ballerina like myself!
And to think, just a few days ago, I was prancing through fields in Derbyshire - surrounded by sheep and lambs - with my faithful horse, Pepper! Oh how I love life and adventure! It’s no wonder I blog about every last moment, even my trips to the stables - there's magic and joy everywhere you look.
