Plymouth Calling! (Post #4917)

Hello my gorgeous ballet bunnies! It’s Emma here, ready to share my latest adventures from the vibrant city of Plymouth, where the sea air is salty and the energy is electric! I arrived just yesterday, and let me tell you, my heart is already overflowing with joy!

This week's adventure saw me swap my Derbyshire dales for the Devon coastline, travelling in the most whimsical way – by train! As usual, I donned my trusty pink tutu and my trusty little satchel, the one adorned with a delicate appliqué of a dancing ballerina. It feels like a magical potion to me - my little pink tutu, that is. Whenever I wear it, I can't help but feel like I'm ready to dance away any troubles and conquer the world. I can just picture a sea of pink tutus around the world, a vibrant display of laughter and light-heartedness!

Anyway, back to the train journey! The journey was such a delight. I loved gazing at the rolling countryside, watching the world whizz by and listening to the rhythm of the wheels on the tracks, just like a soft heartbeat. I'd even got myself a window seat, so I could enjoy a glass of sparkling rose while absorbing the view. I confess I indulged in some of the yummy on-board snacks (those miniature sausages are to die for!), but luckily, the gorgeous seaside air will have my back! 😉

The first stop on my Plymouth agenda? The majestic Plymouth Theatre, of course! I was so thrilled to catch a performance of “The Nutcracker”, a truly enchanting ballet that’s perfect for this time of year. I adore the classic storytelling of ballet, the beauty of the dancing, the magical stories! It takes me right back to my childhood and fills me with pure joy. I can't even describe how inspiring it is to see dancers gliding through the air with such grace and elegance! It gives me such a wonderful sense of yearning and motivation, knowing that I have my own journey in the world of ballet, waiting to unfold.

After the performance, I was absolutely bursting with energy! So, naturally, I popped into the theatre's delightful café for a spot of tea and a yummy, pink-frosted cake. It's like my ballet life is one big magical fairy tale! 🍰☕️✨

This morning, I started the day with a fantastic ballet class at Plymouth Dance Academy. They welcomed me with open arms and warm smiles. They even gave me a gorgeous pink ballet ribbon, just for me! It was perfect! I know they felt the contagious joy that my tutu spread, because it wasn't just me feeling that little bit of magic. There's nothing like dancing your worries away with a bunch of fellow ballet lovers! The studio was buzzing with the rhythm of tap shoes and the gentle melodies of Tchaikovsky – my heart felt absolutely full.

This afternoon, I took a leisurely stroll along the vibrant Plymouth Hoe, savouring the salty air and the stunning ocean views. The energy was incredible, and there was this really vibrant street dance competition. These dancers were brilliant! I couldn't help but admire their energy and expression - the way they could tell stories through their movement was truly captivating. The way the dance styles moved from street to contemporary to jazz with so much gusto – wow! It's amazing how dance can embrace all sorts of artistic expressions, and Plymouth seems to be a hub of creative expression!

Speaking of creativity, I must tell you about the magnificent Plymouth Arts Centre. I found some gorgeous pastel pink stationery with some amazing sketches and drawings. I bought myself a beautiful vintage postcard featuring the elegant Mayflower Steps.

On my trip, I have to mention a heartwarming encounter I had with a playful grey seal, frolicking on the rocky shores. As soon as I spotted him, I knew he was an kindred spirit, loving the salt and sea like me. It was magical to just sit there, watching his playful antics and imagining the adventures he had while he basked on the rocky shores. There's such an unspoken sense of understanding between dancers and wildlife, don't you think? We all crave freedom, expression, and a little bit of grace, all intertwined! 🦭

As you can see, this little pink-tutu wearing ballet-lover has had an absolutely exhilarating adventure in Plymouth. And let me tell you, I've fallen in love with this city's charm and vivacious energy. The energy here is infectious, the people are incredibly friendly, and the beauty is astounding. I already miss it so much.

Tomorrow, I'm leaving the sunny seaside for a beautiful little village further inland, so there's more magic on its way. I'm looking forward to catching up with my amazing readers on the way! If you have a dream in your heart, please keep dreaming and dancing! 💖
