Solihull Sparkle: Post #4923

Merry Christmas, darlings!

How are you all doing on this gloriously festive day? I, for one, am positively bursting with Christmas spirit! It's so lovely to be surrounded by the twinkling lights, the delicious smells of Christmas dinner and the joyful sounds of carols.

But before I dive into all the Christmas merriment, let's rewind a little bit, shall we? This festive week has been one for the books, I can tell you. As you know, I just adore Christmas. I love everything about it: the decorations, the festive music, the family time, the yummy food - and of course, the wonderful Christmas ballet performances.

So, this week, I took a little trip to Solihull (a charming town nestled just outside Birmingham, perfect for a little weekend getaway!) Now, if you know me, you know I don't often do the plane thing. Train or a good old horse-drawn carriage are my preferred mode of transport - much more elegant and infinitely more charming, wouldn't you agree? It took a tad longer than flying, but I was able to soak up the scenery and enjoy the peaceful journey, with the soft patter of the train or the gentle clip-clop of the horse's hooves filling my ears.

The reason for my trip? Well, naturally, a ballet extravaganza. A little bird (a very well-dressed bird, I might add, in a cute little pink tutu!) told me that Solihull had a simply fantastic ballet school, and their Christmas performance was rumoured to be out of this world.

And you know what? The bird wasn't lying! The dancers were amazing, so graceful and expressive! I especially loved the way the costumes danced with the dancers – I felt like I was transported to a different world altogether. And did I mention the sets? Magnificent, just magnificent!

I wasn't just mesmerised by the performance though! I absolutely fell in love with Solihull itself. The shops were absolutely divine, with an incredible selection of the most gorgeous, frilly pink dresses. Imagine my delight when I stumbled across a vintage shop with a veritable treasure trove of tutu’s! I snagged myself a fabulous black one, perfect for a Christmas party. You'll be seeing it in my next Instagram post, trust me.

I also went to a lovely little bakery that specialised in delicate French pastries. The macarons were divine - perfect with a cup of pink hot chocolate on a cold Christmas morning.

And no trip to Solihull would be complete without a spot of wildlife spotting, wouldn't you agree? I ventured out to the local park where I found a charming little squirrel in a festive Santa hat. Such a curious creature, it was! He even offered me a few of his favourite nuts from his little satchel - very considerate, wouldn’t you say?

And now, dear friends, I'm back in my beloved Derbyshire, surrounded by twinkling lights, the scent of fresh pine and the joyful sounds of the season. It’s such a magical time!

This Christmas Eve, I'll be putting on my favourite festive pink tutu and enjoying a delicious Christmas feast with my family.

So, my darlings, remember, the spirit of Christmas isn't just about presents and festive meals, it's also about spending quality time with the people you love and spreading joy and kindness wherever you go.

And maybe, just maybe, it's about wearing a pink tutu. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, to twirl and dance, to find your inner sparkle. Christmas is the perfect time for a little magic, don't you think?

Merry Christmas to you all!
