Slough Calling! 🩰💖

Hey everyone! It’s Emma here, bringing you another delightful dose of pink, tutus and everything fabulously feminine from my very own slice of the world – and today, that slice happens to be a little town called Slough.

Yes, Slough. I know what you’re thinking. The name doesn’t exactly conjure up images of pink tulle and graceful leaps. But trust me, my dear darlings, there’s more to Slough than meets the eye, especially when you're rocking a purple tutu! (Yes, I'm venturing out of my comfort zone with this daring shade. Stay with me!)

Now, before we embark on my Slough adventure, a little update from my Derbyshire homeland: those lovely grey squirrels who've been gracing my backyard with their cheeky antics have a new companion - a beautiful little hedgehog! It seems like they're having a delightful little squirrel-and-hedgehog picnic, sharing a tiny patch of my mum's lovely roses (the roses will be fine, don't worry!) I find the sight absolutely heart-warming - like a mini wildlife ballet performance in my very own garden! 💖

But enough about the Derbyshire countryside! Back to Slough. My journey there was a delightful mix of train travel and horses - I boarded a charming little train from Derbyshire to London, and from there I hopped on a carriage ride to Slough, a lovely little Victorian-era carriage pulled by two stunning Shire horses. This whole journey was like stepping out of a fairytale. I mean, have you seen how magnificent Shire horses are? Those gorgeous creatures were definitely worth the trip all on their own. And did I mention the carriage ride felt like something out of Jane Austen, complete with a delightful chat with the friendly, charming coachman? 💖

But enough about the journey. It's all about Slough now! I was on a mission to see the newest ballet production of “Swan Lake” – which was set to be one of the most breathtaking ballet interpretations I'd ever seen, if the online reviews were anything to go by.

So, there I was, a vision in a daring purple tutu, making my way through Slough, feeling every bit the elegant ballerina, my head held high, a slight flutter in my stomach, and the exciting promise of a night filled with stunning performances! A few excited locals even gave me thumbs up - what can I say, my little pink-tutu-wearing ways attract attention! I truly believe that everyone should be empowered to express themselves and try out things that bring them joy. What better way to express yourself than to spin and twirl in a gorgeous tutu, right? 💖

Inside the theatre, the atmosphere was electric, the anticipation buzzing with every twirl of the theatre lights. And when the curtain finally rose... Oh my goodness! I knew it would be stunning, but the performance absolutely blew my mind. The dancers were ethereal, graceful, and breathtakingly talented, especially the prima ballerina, with her mesmerizing elegance and her movements that seemed to flow with the rhythm of a river. And those swan costumes! Pure magic! ✨💖

After the final bow, I was brimming with delight. "Swan Lake" in Slough is now a highlight of my ballet year! I even spotted the choreographer enjoying a glass of bubbly in the lobby – a very distinguished chap. We exchanged a quick word about the production, and I told him how I thought it was just brilliant. He was so lovely! He seemed equally thrilled about the reception. 🥰💖

Afterwards, I savoured a deliciously light supper in a charming cafe, savoring every bite of a lovely quiche with a side salad - a treat after such a wonderful night. It’s the little things in life, isn’t it?

And that's a wrap on my Slough escapade. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical going in, but I was pleasantly surprised by this little town with a big heart. And for sure, if you ever find yourself in the area, don't miss out on seeing "Swan Lake" at this beautiful theatre. But don’t just take my word for it - see it yourself. You’ll be amazed! 😉💖

Well, dear readers, that's my day wrapped up in pink (and purple, in this case). It's always good to venture outside the comfort zone, isn’t it? You never know what wonders await!

So keep your head up, keep those dreams shining bright, and don’t ever let anyone dim your inner ballerina!

Don’t forget to wear pink – or maybe purple! 😜 💖

With twirls and sparkles,

Emma x
