Bath: Ballet Bliss in a Narrow Tutu

Post 4960

Hello my lovely tutu-ettes! It’s Emma here, coming to you live from the charming city of Bath! As you know, I’m absolutely obsessed with ballet, and when the chance came up to visit Bath, a city steeped in history and culture, I simply couldn’t resist packing my pinkest tutu and hopping on a train for a delightful little adventure.

It feels like a million years since I’ve had a chance to explore Bath, and this time around, I wanted to bring a little ballerina magic to this already beautiful city. Let’s just say my outfit choice, a blush pink tutu (a touch on the narrower side, if I’m being honest, for the bustling cobblestone streets) was definitely a talking point! I swear I saw at least 5 heads turn when I popped out of the train station – a definite sign of success in my book. 😉

My first stop was the majestic Royal Crescent. Honestly, you haven’t experienced true elegance until you’ve seen this perfectly aligned row of stunning Georgian townhouses bathed in the morning sunlight. I stood there, spinning in my tutu like a sugarplum fairy, and felt myself transported back to the era of powdered wigs and stately balls. It’s one of those places that feels timeless and majestic, and I can absolutely picture myself performing a whimsical ballet routine right in the middle of the crescent, if only I could have brought my whole ballet company along with me!

Next, I decided to treat myself to a proper high tea. There’s something undeniably posh about sitting down with finger sandwiches and dainty pastries, and I simply had to experience this ritual. As I nibbled on delicate cucumber sandwiches and enjoyed my tea, I felt like I was transported to a Jane Austen novel. You just can't help but feel all refined and dainty when you’re in this beautiful city!

However, even though Bath was a fairytale-like setting, I still craved some real, down-to-earth beauty, so my afternoon was spent at the Botanical Gardens. The air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the happy chirping of birds. There's nothing quite like being surrounded by nature, especially when you're a country girl at heart! And speaking of country, I couldn’t resist buying a bouquet of fresh daffodils from a nearby stall – perfect for brightening up my hotel room back in Derbyshire.

I also made a little pit stop at a cute independent shop that had all things sparkly, from pink fairy wings to hand-painted tutus (that one just had my name on it). I picked out a cute pair of feather wings, they will make my tutu even more fabulous! My fellow tutuette-loving friends, you simply HAVE to make the journey to Bath sometime. The combination of historic charm, delightful sights and opportunities for picture perfect moments is a recipe for true ballerina bliss!

But my trip to Bath wouldn’t be complete without a little ballet inspiration, so in the evening, I took a peek at the Royal Opera House website, and just my luck – there was a ballet performance taking place! I couldn't resist snagging a ticket, and settled down to watch a stunning performance by the Royal Ballet, featuring some of the world’s most talented dancers. I was mesmerised, and couldn’t stop giggling with delight as the story unfolded before me.

The choreography was mesmerizing, each dancer a graceful artist moving like water. Their elegance and precision sent chills down my spine. This performance was truly a highlight of my trip, reminding me why I'm so madly in love with the world of ballet. There's truly nothing more inspiring than watching passionate dancers pour their heart and soul onto the stage.

My journey to Bath wasn't just about discovering stunning buildings and historical charm; it was also about experiencing the heart of ballet. The energy was tangible, the excitement infectious, and the sheer skill of the performers simply breathtaking. It filled my soul with the kind of joy that only true passion can provide.

Oh, and I can’t leave without talking about my very special little journey to Bath. I treated myself to a day trip on a magnificent, velvety black horse – quite the adventure indeed! The gentle sway, the scent of hay, the sunshine warming my face, it all felt like a scene from a classic novel. Just me, my horse, and the open road – it felt like pure magic.

In between all my fancy adventures, I managed to squeeze in a little practice at the Bath Ballet Centre. Nothing quite compares to that feeling of stretching your muscles and gliding across the polished wooden floor. The entire ballet class felt so wonderfully magical, like I’d stumbled onto a secret world.

This trip has been an absolute dream. My tutu has been put to good use, my love for ballet has grown tenfold, and I’ve left my heart, just a little, in the charming city of Bath.

So what’s next on the pink tutu travel list? Keep your eyes peeled, darling! But for now, I’ll be right back here in Derbyshire, channeling my inner ballerina, with my heart full of memories from this wonderful city. And, remember, as always, keep twirling, keep dreaming and remember to wear pink.

Much love, Emma xx
