Acton Adventures: A Tutu-ful Day Out!

Hello my darlings!

Today has been absolutely divine! As you know, I love a good adventure, and Acton, just a short train journey from Derbyshire, was the perfect destination for a bit of ballet and a spot of wildlife watching.

I woke up feeling super girly today, so I knew exactly what to wear - a stunning pink tutu of course! It’s one I’ve had since I was little - it’s a bit faded now but I absolutely love it. My mum got it for me when I was seven, just before I started ballet classes. And it just makes me feel so fabulous and happy, like a real little princess!

It was a beautiful, sunny day as I took my train journey. A great big fat book and a couple of Pink-Tutu chocolates and I was ready for a fantastic day. There’s just something so romantic about train journeys isn’t there?

Acton’s Little Dance Gem

I reached Acton, feeling totally energised. I couldn't wait to visit the Acton Ballet School. I'd heard whispers of its exceptional classes, but hadn't been myself yet. They have this amazing theatre attached where they do a fantastic street dance and theatrical production every Saturday afternoon. Just my cup of tea! And a fabulous way to celebrate the last day of the week - who needs to rush home for a boring evening, right? So, of course, I decided to see the show.

What a show-stopper! They’d used fabulous contemporary moves and bold costumes - some had incredible headpieces, one with this fabulously extravagant feathers - really added a lot of pizazz to the whole thing. It was also quite moving - one scene had the actors, who must have been a lot older than me - and their sadness just radiated - I could just cry with them it was so intense. Oh my, how I love theatre! Afterwards I had to go and have a little chat with the director, just a tiny bit fan-girlish I have to admit, I've been known to get excited about my ballet loves, after all, and I wanted to hear his perspective.

It turns out he was such a charming and very handsome man - who would have thought! We talked about a future collaboration – just a tiny thought for now, nothing set in stone. Who knows, a Tutu-tastic collaboration for all of you may be in the making! I do like a good challenge and I like to try new things and that certainly could be something exciting. The director said the show is quite challenging and they have such a talented and dedicated cast, including some budding little ballerina’s in there too, with bright futures. I’ll keep you updated, darlings.

And Then There Was Wildlife

Of course, no day out is complete without a bit of wildlife spotting, right? I felt like a bit of nature after that rather intensive day!

Acton has this beautiful Acton Nature Reserve. Just a lovely little stroll along some pretty little paths and the opportunity to get back to nature, and for me to wear my other fabulous tutu, a rather more modest number and much easier to twirl in! My Tutu Adventures wardrobe isn't just about looking super glam, you know, it’s also very practical and very comfy, a true ballerina has to have her own little look of course, just in case I'm caught short with ballet related work when out and about, you never know who you'll meet! But I am, first and foremost, a ballerina!

Anyway, it was a beautiful reserve! Birds chirping away merrily in the sunshine, lots of interesting flowers (the pink ones are, naturally, my favourite!), and a few friendly squirrels making the most of the trees - one little rascal was even brave enough to let me stroke its fluffy tail! What a day.

And speaking of being brave, let's talk about ballet. You might have heard me rave about it before, my love for it, it's my passion - but the truth is, it’s the most challenging thing I’ve ever done. There's always so much more to learn - I am a constant student - that’s why I am still having lessons every single week and will continue to do so throughout my life, but I really want more people to be brave, to experience the amazingness that is ballet! Just imagine how magical it would be if the whole world was full of ballerinas. What a lovely thought. That’s my dream.

That’s my inspiration, the drive behind Pink-Tutu.com. My goal is to show you how to be bold, to embrace life and all its magic. If I can encourage even just one person to try a ballet class, then my job here is done, mission accomplished. I just love to share my passion. I really feel the love here in my world of ballet and it’s fabulous sharing that love with you.

Keep the pink tutus coming!
