Royal Tunbridge Wells - Whimsy and Tutu Dreams 🩰

Good morning darlings! It’s Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, and today I'm waltzing my way into a new adventure in the beautiful town of Royal Tunbridge Wells. I've got to say, I love these little charming towns, steeped in history with gorgeous cobbled streets and beautiful Victorian architecture. It feels like stepping back in time. And speaking of stepping back, who else absolutely adores the click-clack of high heels on cobblestones? The sound itself is like music to my ears, it makes me want to pirouette around every corner!

My journey here started in the most glamorous way imaginable - by train, of course! The whistle blew, and off we sped through the countryside. There's just something so wonderfully romantic about train journeys, the way the world speeds by, and the gentle rumble of the carriages... and let’s not forget the scrumptious picnic basket I packed full of treats. My love for pink doesn’t end with my tutu, it extends to my picnic basket too – sandwiches with pink ham and pickles, a pot of pink lemonade, and strawberry tarts, all on a pink gingham tablecloth. I may be a ballerina, but I'm also a sucker for a good old-fashioned girly tea party!

Royal Tunbridge Wells welcomed me with open arms - well, perhaps not literally, but with the most gorgeous blossom trees lining the streets. The whole town was awash with the colour pink! And as I said before, I'm pretty much obsessed with pink. So, obviously, it was fate's little nudge for me to make this trip! As I walked through the streets, I saw a beautiful park full of little squirrels chattering away, busy gathering nuts for the winter. Seeing those little critters, all furry and bouncing about, brought a smile to my face. There’s just something about wildlife, it’s so wild and free, just like ballet.

Speaking of ballet, I had a most delightful experience at the Tunbridge Wells Ballet School today. It was tucked away in a charming little building, with a sign that read "Where dreams take flight." Sigh Isn't that just perfect? The studio was airy and bright, filled with the energy of budding ballerinas. They were all so excited to show me their moves and we had a grand old time dancing and twirling. It was wonderful to see the passion and joy in their eyes, and it reminded me why I fell in love with ballet in the first place. The thing is, everyone deserves to have that same joy. Everyone has a little ballerina within them!

After the ballet class, I had the most wonderful time exploring the charming shops and cafes. I stumbled upon a vintage clothing shop that was bursting with all sorts of delightful treasures. Can you imagine my glee when I found a pair of gorgeous ballet shoes from the 1950s, complete with a soft pink satin ribbon? It was simply irresistible, I just had to have it. My collection is only growing and with so many vintage pieces it can be tricky finding somewhere to display them. I need more space for my ballet outfits and props – especially with all those gorgeous tutu's, which leads me to the real reason for my trip!

You know that feeling when you get a whiff of something delicious, like fresh bread baking or your grandma's apple pie? That’s how I felt when I walked past The Tunbridge Wells Playhouse. It was practically calling me, “Come in, Emma! We have something magical to share!" So I couldn’t resist going inside to see what the fuss was all about. They had a stunning, hand-stitched tutu hanging in the window, adorned with crystals and shimmering fabric. It reminded me of the costumes in ‘Swan Lake’ with delicate pink feathers. I was completely enthralled! They said it’s from a new play about the magical history of Royal Tunbridge Wells - what a fabulous twist! It's about this young girl who discovers a hidden magical world filled with fairies and…ballet?! I could practically smell the rose petals and the joy already. This is one play I can’t wait to see.

You know, I often think about what would happen if everyone just embraced the spirit of ballet, the joy of movement and expression, and the pure beauty of a perfect pirouette. Imagine a world where every day was a performance, and everyone wore a pink tutu! Now wouldn’t that be a sight to behold! Don’t be afraid to unleash your inner ballerina. Life’s too short to be a wallflower! I have my Tutu and I have my pink lemonade. All you need is you!

Stay sparkling my darlings,

Emma
