Ashington Calling: Tutu Travels Take Me North!

Hello my darling dancers! It's Emma, your favourite pink-loving tutu-trotter, and I'm bursting with excitement because, guess what?! I'm on the road again! And no, this time it wasn't a trusty steed or the London Underground, though those are both definite options, as you well know. No, today, I embraced the rails, travelled on a proper old-fashioned train, the kind you get in romantic movies, with steam and smoke and clinking sounds!

I am in Ashington, a little town in Northumberland, a beautiful county in the North of England that's practically brimming with charm. Ashington's like a secret gem nestled in the rolling hills and historic villages of this stunning region.

The sun's out, shining brightly, reflecting in the little puddles left behind by the recent storms. And do you know what else is out in force? Wildlife, my darling friends! I saw a beautiful stag right near the station, with antlers that would put even a prince's to shame. They're so majestic, and just ooze charisma.

But I'm getting distracted! The reason I'm in Ashington is for something that truly stirs my heart, and fuels my love of all things tutu: the Ashington Ballet Company's Midsummer Night's Dream!

Let me tell you, this is a performance that'll whisk you away on a magical carpet ride. A cast of talented, energetic dancers, all beautifully costumed in sparkling fabrics, brought this classic tale to life. I swear I even felt a sprinkle of fairy dust in the air! I can still hear the applause, the orchestra's dreamy music, the tinkling bells of the fairy costumes, and oh my gosh, the sheer joy radiating from the entire theatre.

They've captured Shakespeare's beauty so effortlessly, combining it with classic ballet technique and storytelling. I don't even want to spoil the details, because you must experience it yourself!

As for my outfit? Well, I knew I couldn't resist adding a touch of my signature pink to this beautiful night! I went with a beautiful blush-pink satin tutu, layered with a fluffy ivory chiffon skirt. It felt ethereal and airy, perfect for dancing the night away.

After the performance, we headed out to the town's square. They've got a lovely little garden where people were having picnics, playing music, and enjoying the sunshine. There's also a quirky little coffee shop I have to visit - with pink walls, no less!

This isn't just any ordinary tutu trip, it's a real adventure. It's the kind of experience that makes you appreciate the joy of dance, the beauty of a vibrant town, and the wonders that come with stepping outside your comfort zone.

Speaking of stepping outside of comfort zones... what would you say to a little tutu challenge? Have you ever wanted to try ballet? Even if you don't, there's a good chance you know someone who does. For next week's post, I'm inviting you all to embrace your inner dancer.

Here's the challenge:

  1. Wear pink: Think pink lipstick, pink accessories, even a pink tutu, if you dare!
  2. Try something new: Whether it's a ballet class, a tap session, a dance party, or simply twirling in your kitchen, do something outside your comfort zone!
  3. Share your experience: Snap a photo, make a video, or just tell us all about it on www.pink-tutu.com Tag your photos #pinktutuchallenge, and let's make the world a more dance-filled place!

We all know dancing is pure magic! It allows you to express yourself in a way that nothing else can, and it reminds you that joy is found in the simplest things, like twirling in a pretty tutu or dancing under the summer stars.

Remember, darling dancers, life is short. So put on a tutu, put on a smile, and let your spirit soar!

Until next time,

Emma
