Melton Mowbray: Tutu Travels & a Pinch of Pink!

Hello my darling dears! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger, here. Back again, another day, another gorgeous tutu adventure to share! Today I’m whisking you off to the charming town of Melton Mowbray, and trust me, you won’t believe what I got up to!

First, a little confession: the train journey to Melton Mowbray was just heavenly. Honestly, it was so serene and picturesque, I almost wished it never ended. Imagine, me perched by the window, surrounded by beautiful countryside whizzing past. I had my headphones on, listening to my favourite playlist of classical pieces and ballet music – the perfect soundtrack to a tutu day. I mean, there’s just something about that peaceful rhythmic thrum of the train that makes me feel inspired.

Of course, I couldn't be without a fabulous pink tutu for the occasion. I whipped out my newest one, a lovely shade of blush pink with layers and layers of tulle. I felt like a beautiful pink blossom fluttering in the wind. It's always a delight to see the curious glances and smiles I receive when I’m rocking my pink tutu. Sometimes, I’m even asked for a photo! It makes my day every time – I know I’m spreading the tutu love, and that’s what makes me the happiest.

Melton Mowbray – A Tuteful Delight

Melton Mowbray – the name just oozes history and charm, doesn’t it? My first stop was the delightful market square, which was bursting with colour and the aroma of freshly baked goods. Let me tell you, the buttery scent of the freshly baked pies was so tempting – even I, a ballerina who watches her calories, almost caved. But then, I realised, what good would it be to wear a tutu if I then stuffed myself with delicious pastries? * Think of those plies! I’d say to myself, firmly refusing another tempting bite.

I found myself drawn to the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie shop – after all, what's a trip to Melton without a pie? They even have a special shop devoted to the legendary local delicacy. It's absolutely worth a visit – if you don't actually like pork pies, it's still a lovely place to pop into and see the art of pie making. It's fascinating to watch, especially for a budding ballerina like me who loves the detail of it all – you could call it “pie perfection”.

A Ballet Adventure – Taking It to the Streets

The afternoon saw me venturing to the charming Melton Mowbray Theatre, for a ballet performance unlike anything I've ever seen. It was a delightful “street-ballet” performance, where dancers performed with the background of this captivating town. Imagine: a flurry of pirouettes near the historic Market Place, leaps amidst the picturesque lanes and grand gestures outside the majestic Church of St Mary.

My pink tutu fit perfectly with the atmosphere of the show – like a whimsical dream blending into the enchanting backdrop. It really got my creative juices flowing – wouldn't it be marvellous to create my own street ballet? I started envisioning it in my head, a balletic tribute to Melton Mowbray, full of vibrant leaps, pirouettes in the sunshine and arabesques in the heart of the market square! I think it’d be absolutely delightful! I have the perfect name for it – 'Melton Mowbray Melodies.' It would truly capture the soul of this remarkable place.

After the show, I decided to venture to the National Forest – it's just a short drive from Melton Mowbray, and I wanted a good long stretch in nature. There's just something special about immersing myself in nature – especially for a ballet dancer. It fills me with serenity, like I can really connect with myself and the world around me.

Tutu Love and Wildlife Wonder

Wearing my pink tutu in the forest, I truly felt a connection to the trees and the animals – I think my tutu seemed to attract all sorts of fascinating creatures. Birds sang sweetly overhead, squirrels chattered playfully in the trees, and a timid deer peeked out from behind a bush, momentarily locking eyes with me before dashing off into the undergrowth.

I can’t tell you what joy it brings to see the delight in wildlife’s eyes, especially when I’m rocking my pink tutu. I truly think it's my tutus' pink shimmer that does the trick – a special spark of connection, I think. And sometimes I get this beautiful feeling, this strong connection to the animals in a very particular, silent way. They just look at me with a gentle kind of wonder. I love it. It's almost as if my tutu allows me to understand their language - the language of beauty, the language of grace, and the language of happiness.

I guess the highlight of the afternoon was this: I was doing a slow waltz around the trees with my tutu swirling around me like a rosy pink cloud, when a little fox popped out of the foliage – I mean, he just appeared like magic! – he trotted around me in circles and actually stared at me for a moment, with these big, inquisitive eyes. For a moment, we were totally mesmerised by each other, then off he popped into the undergrowth. I felt like I’d witnessed magic!

By the time I decided to head back, the light was turning a gorgeous golden orange. There is something undeniably enchanting about the golden hour in a nature-filled setting – just spectacular!
