Cambridge Calling: A German Tutu Takes Centre Stage! 🩰💕

Hello darlings! It's your girl Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the beautiful city of Cambridge, where the air is practically buzzing with academic energy, the river Cam is calling my name for a leisurely punt, and… well, let's just say my love for tutus is flourishing!

This adventure began with the classic Emma travel ritual: a glorious sunrise train journey from my lovely Derbyshire countryside, where the rolling hills practically sighed in contentment as I waved goodbye. I was, of course, wearing my signature pink tutu (this time, a delightful tulle creation I snagged in Germany – more on that later!), and my trusty pair of ballet flats. The train journey is my favourite way to travel – you see the world go by from a charming, cosy perspective, and you get a chance to watch everyone, and everything, pass by – and yes, I often start ballet-inspired choreography to the train's rhythmic chugging. Let’s face it, we all have to work on our stage presence!

When I arrived at Cambridge, it felt like stepping into a time capsule. I practically squealed with delight as I passed those adorable brick buildings, ivy crawling up their walls like a well-trained vine. I couldn’t wait to get a glimpse of the famed King's College Chapel – with its beautiful architecture, I just knew it would be a stunning backdrop for a tutu twirl! (Spoiler alert: it totally was! - check out my Instagram!)

Speaking of Cambridge’s enchanting vibes, the city seems to radiate creativity. It’s a truly inspiring place! My first order of business was, of course, to get my daily ballet fix. I waltzed my way into the Cambridge Ballet Centre – the elegant building whispered “poetry in motion” – and took a class. There’s just something about the disciplined yet graceful movements that speaks to my very soul!

Now, remember my German tutu? It was the real star of this Cambridge escapade. You see, I discovered this absolute gem while touring the majestic castles of Germany (don’t worry, I'll share more about that adventure later!) in the cutest little vintage shop nestled away in the charming countryside. It’s made of a luscious deep rose-gold, and it shimmers beautifully in the light – like a perfect ballerina’s sunset glow! I paired it with a blush pink cashmere jumper, and let me tell you, I turned heads – and I am not even talking about my twirling, although that was also going strong. The pink really pops in the lush green meadows and old cobbled streets of Cambridge.

After my ballet session, I went to the iconic Bridge Street – and yes, you guessed it! – my pink tutu was making its graceful rounds amongst the historic bridges! What a dreamy, fairytale setting! Honestly, I think the Cambridge locals were charmed by my fashion choices, and the beautiful city definitely lived up to its reputation for being a welcoming and whimsical place.

Now, no visit to Cambridge is complete without a riverside stroll and a delightful punt down the River Cam! And you can be sure that my German tutu joined me on the adventure, catching the attention of everyone on the water and sending hearts fluttering with its beauty. We laughed, we twirled, we captured the spirit of the beautiful Cambridge scenery!

But my Cambridge adventures went beyond just beautiful vistas and pirouette-worthy backdrops! This time, I even took a detour from the usual tutu route and got lost in the captivating world of Cambridge University. Yes, I wandered through the libraries, admired the ancient halls, and let my imagination run wild among the scholarly whispers. And guess what? Even the bookshelves whispered of romance! I can almost see myself starring in a modern, romantic ballet, set amongst the grand halls of Cambridge, complete with captivating twirls, charming characters, and an ending so perfect it would have even Jane Austen swooning.

Of course, no journey would be complete without trying out some local delicacies. I sampled a delectable, perfectly light afternoon tea (with lashings of cream, of course!) in one of the most adorable tea rooms – and can we just say, everything is simply divine with a side of pink tutu magic?

But even in my fairytale setting, there was still room for wildlife! As the sun dipped behind the buildings of Cambridge, I stumbled upon a bustling wildlife park! Imagine my delight at encountering a majestic deer! My inner ballerina was thrilled to perform a whimsical ballet solo for him - yes, it was a “Deer and Tutu Duet”! It was like a scene from my own little whimsical ballet. The beauty of nature in perfect harmony with my beautiful German tutu – a truly enchanting experience!

Now, my dear friends, as I prepare for the next chapter of my adventures, I can't help but reflect on this wonderful time in Cambridge. It truly was an experience I'll cherish forever! I encourage you all to embrace your inner ballerina and find a place to create your own magical dance moments! Let your own "German tutus," or whatever that beautiful thing is that makes your heart skip a beat, lead you on your own journey of discovery, creativity, and joy.

Until next time, my darlings!

Much love, Emma
