#TutuBlog 5250: Berlin, Ballet, and a Dash of Lederhosen!

Guten Tag, my lovely Tutuettes! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu enthusiast, back from a whirlwind adventure in the vibrant city of Berlin! This little gem of a city has got it all, my darlings – amazing history, a fabulous food scene, and even enough ballet to make my tutu-wearing heart sing.

Let’s dive straight into this latest pink-tutu escapade! Berlin, as you all know, is famed for its rich, fascinating history. But let’s be honest, dear readers, there’s no history lesson I’d rather have than one involving horses. So, picture this: me, all in pink (naturally!), riding a beautiful, white stallion through the Brandenburg Gate, the sun shining on the magnificent dome of the Reichstag – I practically heard angels singing. Yes, dear friends, Berlin's historical charm blended with my passion for equines created a truly magical experience! And did I mention my elegant pink silk scarf that flew behind me in the breeze? Sheer perfection, my dears!

The highlight of the trip, however, was definitely the ballet scene. I went to see the world-famous Staatsballett Berlin perform a breathtaking rendition of Swan Lake at the glorious, opulent, stunningly beautiful State Opera House. From the first soft twirl to the final, graceful curtsy, the show transported me to a magical world of grace and beauty. They didn't just dance; they practically soared! The beauty of it all – well, you can imagine a tutu-loving soul like myself just completely losing herself in it. And the grand finale with the entire company on stage? Sheer perfection! I practically choked back tears – you can’t be in that atmosphere and not be moved by the raw power and elegance of the dancers!

And then there was the ballet class itself! Oh my, you should have seen the studio - beautifully bright with the light streaming through tall windows! It was truly inspiring. The teacher was a strict but kind woman, with beautiful eyes that sparkled with the love of ballet. After class, I joined the local ballet enthusiasts for tea and delicious German pastries, discussing everything from the current state of the Bolshoi Theatre to the merits of pointe shoes. Such a wonderful way to connect with fellow dance devotees!

And did I mention the food? From mouthwatering currywurst on a sunny street corner to authentic German schnitzel at a cosy, traditional restaurant, I savored every bite of this city’s culinary delights. The best part? I managed to enjoy all this delicious food without abandoning my love of all things pink! It’s the colour of love, my dears, and what's more lovable than a delicious Berliner-style donut dipped in pink frosting?! (Okay, I confess I may have had more than one... perhaps two. Don't tell my horse, but I definitely left a little room for some of those sweet treats. ;) )

As always, I managed to spread my tutu gospel throughout the city, my lovelies. I wore my pinkest tutu on a trip to the famous Brandenburg Gate – it was an absolute eye-catcher. Tourists from around the world were thrilled to see a British ballerina with such a passion for her unique look. They asked for photos and posed with my tutu (sometimes even wearing it!)... spreading the tutu love all over Berlin! It truly felt like the start of a beautiful, pink revolution.

And, of course, no trip to Germany is complete without a touch of tradition, right? So, after all those fancy ballet classes and dinners, I found myself in a traditional German Biergarten, with everyone around me decked out in Lederhosen and Dirndls. Yes, even in my pink tutu, I was perfectly in place amidst the jolly beer-drinking Germans. My tutu, with its bright pink and elegant design, was a unique contrast to the traditional German attire, adding a pop of unexpected colour and delight to the festivities! Everyone wanted a picture with the 'English Tutu Lady'! They seemed charmed by the contrast – traditional Bavarian attire against my pink tutu and vibrant, colourful spirit. It was as if I brought a touch of feminine ballet magic into their rustic world!

But honestly, darlings, it's the people that make a place special. Berliners were incredibly kind and welcoming, despite my sometimes peculiar attire (although they were absolutely captivated by my tutus!). They embraced my enthusiasm for all things pink, and I discovered an affinity for their warm and joyful hearts. Their sense of history, art, and a good old fashioned celebration really resonates with my Derbyshire roots.

So there you have it, my loves! Another city conquered in my pink-tutu mission to bring ballet, love and, of course, pink to every corner of the world! Berlin, you’ve truly stolen my heart. Now, back to Derbyshire to teach some tutu classes to a new batch of future prima ballerinas! Don't forget to share your own #TutuTales and join me in my ongoing pink-tutu revolution, my loves! Keep shining bright and beautiful,

Love,

Emma
