Surbiton Sparkle: A Tutu Tale

Post number 5315 - 21st January 2011

Oh, darling! Fancy seeing you here. Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where life is all twirls, pink tulle, and a sprinkle of whimsy.

Today, I'm bubbling with excitement! I'm finally in Surbiton, the delightful little town just a short hop from London, where I'm staying in a charming B&B with floral wallpaper and the sweetest smell of lavender wafting through the air.

Speaking of delightful, I can't even begin to tell you about the tutu I have on. It's the epitome of elegant pink perfection. This beauty was lovingly hand-stitched by a dear friend, and she even added some shimmering sequins and a feather trim. It's simply divine!

This weekend, Surbiton is alive with ballet magic, as the Royal Ballet School is putting on a breathtaking performance of "Swan Lake". It's the reason I ventured down to this charming corner of England, and my anticipation is bubbling like a freshly poured cuppa.

Yesterday, before venturing to Surbiton, I enjoyed a beautiful afternoon ride on my beloved mare, Poppy. She loves a good trot, just as much as I love a graceful pirouette. You could say sheā€™s my ballerina on four legs! Sheā€™s a chestnut mare with a flash of white on her forehead and her coat is as shiny as satin in the midday sun. Sheā€™s also incredibly clever and always knows when Iā€™m feeling stressed or just need some quiet time.

While the fields in Derbyshire are all frosted white with winter, Surbiton is positively bursting with life, especially in its charming little garden square. The winter roses are in bloom, thereā€™s a lovely scent of honeysuckle wafting on the wind, and the little robins have started their morning chorus.

This little town has me completely smitten! I simply love the old-fashioned architecture, cobbled streets, and cozy pubs with their roaring fireplaces. I especially love this charming vintage bookshop, where I managed to unearth a delightful first edition of ā€œThe Nutcrackerā€.

I have to say, my day began in the most spectacular way. After an idyllic train journey, with its panoramic views of rolling hills and glistening snow, I was greeted at the station by the kindest driver who offered me a lift into town. As we drove, I saw a whole flock of sheep nibbling on a field full of clover, a delightful little reminder that the country life is never far away.

The train journey from my Derbyshire home is something else! Watching the countryside transform from the emerald green of summer fields to the glistening white of winter is magical. The wind whirs through the carriage as I sip my cuppa, watch the sheep huddled together in fields, and imagine what grand ballet stories their wool could weave! Thereā€™s no better way to escape than in a train, just me and my thoughts. And sometimes, the sweet scent of freshly baked cookies or the comforting aroma of tea wafting from a fellow traveller makes the journey even more special!

Surbiton is truly a place that evokes all the enchantment and fairytale charm of my favorite ballet stories. Itā€™s the perfect blend of classic beauty and quirky personality, and I know that every minute spent here will be full of joyous surprises and breathtaking adventures. I have to confess I even spotted a few shops with bright pink displays, so you know I had to step inside and browse!

Later this afternoon, Iā€™ll be indulging in some delicious tea and cake at a cute cafĆ© nestled in a quiet corner of Surbiton, complete with its own garden filled with blooms in winter and Iā€™ll then make my way to the ballet school for the opening night of "Swan Lake". I have my very own little ballet notebook and pencil at the ready to capture all the magical moments, because this blog simply wouldn't be complete without my personal reflection and memories of each ballet performance. And let me tell you, a night at the theatre with a freshly made pink tutu always makes for an enchanting night!

I know many of you love a good tutu tale. After all, who doesn't love a story filled with graceful twirls and the magic of dance? Let's continue this journey of spreading love and sparkles, and donā€™t forget to twirl every day, even if you think itā€™s just you! Remember, itā€™s not just about the steps, but about how we move through life, and about sharing our passion with the world! I know youā€™ve all got your own secret dance moves!

Till next time, my darlings! Keep twirling and remember, a little pink tutu can brighten even the gloomiest day.

Love,
Emma
