Welling: Tutu-tastic Travels!

Post #5329 - 4th February, 2011

Hello, darlings! Emma here, reporting from the sunny, but slightly chilly, streets of Welling! Just imagine - a day out with a pink tutu, a trip by train, and wildlife spotting! This has been a positively enchanting day, so grab a cuppa, settle in, and let me tell you all about it...

Train Travel & Tutu Fun

I always say, a journey is as important as the destination. Today, it certainly was! My trusty vintage suitcase was overflowing with my most colourful tutus – it’s a little like Marie Kondo's 'spark joy' concept, but with a pink and sparkly twist! You know me, I simply can’t travel without a few of my favourite tutu-clad outfits. I donned my classic American-style tutu for this journey. You know, the ones with the gathered layers that billow out like a cloud of loveliness? And let me tell you, it was a head-turner on the train!

The train ride was a blur of sunshine, and friendly faces. Everyone seemed to be beaming – maybe it was the weather, maybe it was the Tutu! And I got the chance to catch up with some fellow ballet enthusiasts! Yes, darling, we met some lovely ladies at the station with the most exquisite ballet bags I've ever seen, filled with ribbons, and perfectly coordinated with their ballet shoes.

A Bit of Nature

After a rather picturesque ride through the English countryside (do you know, I’m quite the nature enthusiast myself!), I arrived in Welling, which, much to my delight, had an absolutely charming little park with a cute little duck pond. Of course, the first thing I did was try my absolute best to charm the resident ducklings! Let me tell you, these little creatures are positively fearless - they waddled up to my pink tutu with an air of such confident nonchalance! Maybe they think I’m a fluffy cloud? Who knows!

An Unexpected Find

On my travels today, I stumbled across something rather remarkable. tucked away on a side street was the sweetest little tea room. I mean, it was just charming, you wouldn't even believe it! They had all sorts of gorgeous cakes, fluffy scones with jam and clotted cream, and - hold onto your hats - the best raspberry ripple ice cream I’ve had in ages. Of course, a girly day out wouldn’t be complete without a slice of cake and a pot of tea! It was just so delightfully feminine!

An Afternoon of Art

To finish off the day in style, I decided to head to the Welling Civic Theatre. Let me tell you, this is one of my favourite parts of any travel day. The anticipation builds, and, then, there is that magical moment as the music swells and the lights fade. The stage transforms into another world entirely, the actors come to life. Tonight was "A Midsummer Night's Dream" which was utterly delightful. The music, the costumes, and the dancers! Everything about the show was just sublime.

And you know, I have to say it – watching such incredible performances inspires me! It’s like that inner voice says, ‘Emma, get your tutu on, put on some music, and move! And this, dear reader, is what it’s all about. I want to inspire every single person to Embrace the power, grace and joy of movement. To find that inner dancer and to never be afraid to tutu yourself.
* A Tutu-ful Farewell*

As I sit here in my cosy little hotel room, wrapped in my softest dressing gown, I'm feeling utterly inspired. It’s a great feeling, to find beauty and inspiration everywhere you look!

Until tomorrow, darlings! Remember - pink tutus are waiting!
