Herne Bay: A Feather Tutu & a Frolicking Fawn

Darling readers,

Oh my, where do I even begin?! The wind is whipping through my feather tutu, the sea air is swirling around me, and the sunshine is glinting off the pink and white stripes of my picnic blanket – it's truly a day for a little seaside frolic.

Today's adventure has whisked me away to Herne Bay, a charming little seaside town with cobbled streets and a pier that seems to stretch for miles. It's not exactly the typical ballet scene, you might say, but then, I've always been one to seek out a touch of the extraordinary!

I arrived in Herne Bay by train, of course. The carriage windows revealed a panoramic view of rolling countryside, a sea of emerald green with flashes of golden sunlight dappling through the trees. I love the rhythm of the train journey, the gentle swaying, the rhythmic clicking of the wheels, it's a sort of calming ballet of its own.

After disembarking at the station, I decided to treat myself to a jaunt on horseback. A glorious white steed with a flowing mane, just picture it! Galloping along the sandy shore, feeling the sea spray on my face, with the salty breeze lifting my feather tutu, it was positively enchanting! It's amazing how close you feel to nature when you're on a horse. There's a raw energy and power to it that's almost primal, and the sense of freedom is absolutely exhilarating.

Of course, my feather tutu (yes, I packed a feather tutu, how else to achieve peak whimsicality in a seaside town?) couldn't be kept hidden all day. After my equine escapade, I had to make my way down to the beach, a delicate pink and white butterfly against the backdrop of the expansive blue sky. I couldn't resist spreading out my picnic blanket on the sand, surrounded by shells, sandcastles, and a chorus of delighted shrieks from children playing nearby.

I packed my picnic with all my favourite treats - strawberry sandwiches, sparkling lemonade, and a decadent pink-frosted cupcake with edible pearls. My motto, you see, is to always have something a little bit glamorous to make every occasion special.

The highlight of my afternoon was a most unexpected encounter. As I lay nestled amongst my pink and white pillows, mesmerized by the waves lapping at the shore, a little fawn wandered out onto the beach, seemingly unafraid of the strange human creature gazing at it. I was mesmerized! Such gentle, soulful eyes, and a grace in its movements that reminded me of a young ballerina on pointe. It must have sensed my gentle admiration because it approached, delicately nuzzling its nose into my hand.

That, my darling readers, is when I knew my trip to Herne Bay had officially become one of my all-time favourites! A seaside adventure, a glorious horseback gallop, a chance encounter with a captivating fawn - and of course, the sheer joy of swirling my feather tutu in the salty sea breeze.

It's these moments, these fleeting experiences that make life a beautiful, unexpected ballet. I know that every day can be an opportunity to step onto the stage of life and dance your own beautiful story.

Oh, and one more thing! I have a secret. There's a rather lovely little theatre in Herne Bay, with elegant red velvet seats and intricate chandeliers. They have a performance scheduled next week, a classical ballet. Guess who has a special date to mark in their calendar?!

Until next time,

Emma xx
