Ashington Adventures: Pink Tutu on the Tyne!

Post Number 5396

Good morning, my lovely lot! Today's a very exciting day - I'm off on a little adventure to Ashington, a beautiful little town nestled on the banks of the River Tyne. I've never been this far north, but the train journey promised a scenic trip and the opportunity to see some fantastic wildlife.

As usual, my trusty pink tutu is packed, this time I've got a lovely frilly one with lots of pink and purple layers, just the thing for twirling in the sunshine (or if it rains, at least I can bring a touch of colour to a dreary day, right?)!

I love exploring by train, it gives me time to catch up on my reading, people-watching, and daydreaming, all while whizzing past stunning landscapes. I even spotted a field of sheep, so adorable! It’s all about the journey, really. I know some folks love to drive, but I’m a firm believer in the romance of the rails.

Now, about this trip… it's a double whammy! I’m combining a ballet workshop for aspiring dancers in the morning with an afternoon of seeing the fabulous Ashington Ballet perform at their local theatre! How fabulous is that? It's my little contribution to spreading the joy of dance, and what better way than sharing the magic with young aspiring dancers and then soaking up the energy of a fantastic performance.

Speaking of, you guys know I’m obsessed with dance, but have I told you about the local dance studio? This particular group is full of young talents. I can’t wait to get on the floor and work on a few fun moves with them, maybe we’ll do a flash mob later. Wouldn’t it be fabulous to surprise the town centre with a dance routine wearing a pink tutu, I just imagine the faces they'll make!

And you can’t get better practice than working on your pliés while taking in the stunning views of Northumberland, so a good combination of ballet and a new place for this ballerina! I've also heard that the area has a fantastic horse-riding trail, so hopefully, I'll get time for a gentle ride before I leave! It's going to be a fantastic trip, full of sunshine, beautiful landscapes, horses, new friends, and lots of dancing!

Stay tuned for more!

More pictures from my adventure

Now, I know you are just as excited about seeing pictures from my day as I am. Let me tell you, there are some fabulous things in store!

First off, the train ride, I love seeing the different sights as the train races past. From the lush Derbyshire countryside, my favourite place to wander, through quaint towns with half-timbered houses, to sprawling fields of vibrant wildflowers, it's an adventure just getting to Ashington.

You know me, it was the tutu that first caught my eye, all layers of pink frills dancing around in the breeze. I even stopped by the seaside to snap a picture, oh my, this pink is so eye-catching, even the seagulls were impressed, let me tell you! The breeze was a bit brisk for my thin summer skirt though!

After the excitement of a long journey, it was time to focus on my little dance mission. The dance workshop was in an old Victorian building, complete with wooden floors, lots of natural light, and, best of all, an actual dance barre! The students were all eager to learn, and it was such a privilege to teach them some of my favourite steps. I’m talking pliés, relevés, a touch of grand jeté, and just a smidgen of Fouetté, oh it was such a fun, high-energy workshop! These little ballerinas are super-talented, they were practically born with pointe shoes on their feet!

Now, here's the exciting bit: the Ashington Ballet! I just have to rave about this production! We went to a charming old theatre that seemed to have secrets in every corner, with velvet curtains, plush seats, and an ornate balcony. I felt transported to a different era!

Their ballet performance was spectacular! It was all I had hoped for and more! The dancers were incredibly skilled, and it was such an honour to watch their stories unfold through movement, expressions, and costumes. I’m talking high kicks, slight smiles, and elegant poses, they had it all, a truly stunning show. They also incorporated music and special effects for their performance which was simply incredible, their dedication and hard work was inspiring!

You’ll have to watch this space for my full review of the performance, it deserves a whole blog post dedicated to it! And don't forget to come with me tomorrow when I check out more of Ashington, its local history, and their famous pottery. You might even see a flash mob, fingers crossed!

*My pink tutu advice for today: *

If you are nervous about trying a new experience like attending a workshop, joining a club, or going to a dance performance, just remember, we’ve all been there. There are many first times in life, and it can be a bit scary, but think about what’s exciting about trying something new. I’m an introvert, trust me! It’s a little bit of fear and excitement all rolled into one, but it’s always worth the push! A tiny little bit of nervousness is just an excitement warning! And maybe the right pink tutu might just give you a confidence boost, right?

And always, remember the power of a pink tutu! It's more than just a garment, it’s a symbol of happiness, creativity, and the joy of being your beautiful, fabulous self, always! I love seeing the looks on people's faces when I waltz down the street. Sometimes it's a gasp of surprise, others it's an awed smile. Just seeing their reaction brings such joy to me! You don't have to do anything as drastic as rocking a pink tutu to share joy and cheer, simply sharing a smile, a helping hand, or a kind word will spread the cheer and make everyone's day a little brighter!

*Until tomorrow, keep twirling, and have a fantastic day! *
